Shane doesn't have a chance here. Let's be honest. And Pacquiao has already proven he's the best in the sport, not in a hypothetical way like Mayweather, but in a very real way.
Also, what's your source that this is a "done deal"?

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Baed on what we have seen in the last two fights, I would have to agree and I am a Mosley fan. I am getting tired of Manny fighting guys who are coming off of lacklustre/downright awful/devastating knockout loss performances.
I'm not into Berto, but it wouldn't hurt to see Manny at least in there with fighters on the up and are not fading at the back end of their careers. Heck, stick him in there with Bradley at 140. That's a fight.
But another old man who hasn't shown all that much in recent times. Sure way to test the best fighter on the planet.
Mosley looked stellar against Margarito, but gassed after three rounds with Mayweather, got caught doing a rinse and repeat a looked old against Mora, and looked like he was getting outboxed by Mayorga, be interesting to see how the scorecards would have looked if he went to a neutral corner (per the rules)

It's already on ESPN.com
Ah well, I'm sure I'll buy it anyway. Don't anyone fool yourself though (Taeth) this will be an absolute blowout.
Fightnews just caught up.

The face to face HBO interview will probably go something like this:
Mosley to Roach: Manny has never been in with someone as strong and fast as me, how are you guys going to counter that?
Roach to Mosley: I saw your last 2 fights.

Mosley has a shot. Aging athletes lose consistency but can often turn back the clock. Without PBF's strict PED-enforcement regiment, he could always find a mothers little helper too. Lets face it, PEDs are ubiquitous in sports and Mosely's been caught once, so speculation is fair game.
A bit of a lose lose for PacMan though. He continuous to fight boxers who PBF already dismantled. He does it in more spectacular fashion but at the end of the day he's fighting guys that look considerably less formidable than they did pre-PBF.
Indeed, Mosely has taken quite a fall...going from a 1b-4-lber, the WW no one wanted a piece of, the man who dismantled Margorita, to over the hill.
JMM desreved a 3rd fight. Pac gave up chance to clear up his one blemish.
This is going to be a horrible fight. We seen what Floyd's speed did to Mosley, he was hesitating to throw punches, and never had any answer for the speed. Now Mosley is going to fight a guy with the same speed, and he's aged even more. As usaul, we will hear from Arum and the boys how great Mosley is, and how much of a warrior he is in the ring. Not buying this ppv.
This was a no brainer in the making with HBO and GBP at forefront. Mayweather has painted himself into corner and once again the division is passing him by. Seems these two just take turns fighting each others left overs
Style wise. I seriously give Mosley a clean punchers chance. Manny can be drawn in and while much was made of Tonys size, Mosley is there as well having been 154 although in thicker fashion. Speed and long boxing kills Mosley but he's planted, retains hand speed and compared to Margarito, Clottey and crew...he can crack far more to get Mannys attention. He can dig ribs too and if Tony bothers Manny for a minute...Mosley will too. Hell...I like this fight, all possibility's considered.
I disagree. A fighter turning back the clock after 40 is the exception rather than the norm and more so against the PFP number one fighter in the world. Sure Mosley has a chance, but I think it is now a slim one. I will be hoping and praying that he puts up a good showing or even shocks the world, but like GB I worry about Mosley. I don't want to see an old legend go out with a pounding. He seems to lack stamina and output and isn't the sharpest defensively. Pac is going to be turning the buzzsaw on him. Suggesting that he take illegal supplements is no way to validate the fight either.
A Marquez fight would have been better, but I see no way to justify Marquez fighting him at 147. Regardless, we now have the fight we have been given.![]()
Pacquiao has proven he's the best? How? Almost everyone in boxing thinks Mayweather beats Pacquiao in a fight. That would mean Mayweather is the better fighter.
People are talking about the fact that Margarito had a perfect style for Mosley to look good agianst, well Pacquiao's last 6 opponents have been picked to make him look good. He has strategically fought guys that have stood there and allowed him to throw huge combinations ring circles around them.
That's why I am really surprised by them taking Mosley, especially after Margarito was able to hurt Manny to the body and actually made Pacquiao feel quite beat up physically after the fight. Mosley is way faster than Margarito or anyone Manny has foughten lately, and he won't be weight drained like De La Hoya, he has a way better chin than Cotto and Hatton. He's stronger, faster, and can punch harder than anyone Pacquiao has faced. Also he's way more mobile than Manny recent opponents. THis is going to be a really tough fight for him, especially how Mosley goes to the body.
Manny might win most of the rounds, but he is going to get hit a lot and very hard. An upset could happen here. Whereas I didn't think it was really possible before.
A fighter can look old in a blink of an eye. Is Mosley a sterner test than Margerito...of course...Tony is a one dimensional bum. But Shane has looked his age in his recent fights. I just have an issue with Pac/Roach going after an aging former champ instead of taking on much more competitive/compelling fights. Especially considering that the last few Pac opponents where either past it or where tailor made for his style (or both). This will be another case of Manny beating an over matched opponent (in this case because of age) and all of us having to hear how it's another example of why he is such a great fighter. I, for one, will not be buying into the hype of this fight.
