I thought the Pacific didn't do character development as well as Band of Brothers but I found the combat scenes really gripping. I thought they did a great job of capturing the feeling of despair and emptiness in war.

						I found the same thing....
Although I was reading an interview with the producer just before Pacific came out, and he was highlighting the difference between the two series...
He said he wasn't trying to make another Band of Brothers... BOB was really about the friendship and how as a group the went through the Europe campaign...
Where as the Pacific is more about the terror of heavy combat, and the impact of war on the individual.. As was as from a historical point showing some of the more brutal aspects of the war against china in the South Pacific..
It would be next to impossible to beat BOB for a full rounded series that is just brilliant in every aspect...
But 2 or 3 episodes of the Pacific are amongst the best watching i've ever seen...
When Eugene Sledge first lands, and the episode following where they have to cross the airfield are just insane....
