Rios is not ready he gets blown out by the top of the division.
I have to agree. I'm not sold on Rios. He's a hack. Acosta was the right pick for Rios. For someone "with movement", he kept going straight back whenever Rios was on top of him and sat in the pocket with his hands down, looking to shoe shine offense from the hip rather than protecting his face. Acosta was fading badly from the legs up and really wasn't keeping himself composed.
Rios seems to have some beard, and seems to have some decent power, but if he fought a counter puncher with a decent jab and head movement, he'd get cut to ribbons. There's a lot there to hit and plenty of opportunity for counters because Rios has a bad habit of loading up on his punches and can't handle guys that pivot and circle out. Acosta, at one point, ducked underneath one of those Rios chicken wings and pivoted, and Rios went right by him took a long second to find him again.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I think that he beats Alexander if he can manage to connect a few good shots and tear Alexanders will to foight from him...If he can not land the shots needed to do so he gets outboxed after some close calls for Alexander....
Maidana would be a good fight as Marcos bangs like Rios but IMO just a bit harder....Would be a close call...Though Maidana has bveen in with better comp for sure..
Ortiz I see playing out like I stated the Alexander fight would but I think Ortiz folds quicker he is not as skilled as Alexander or near as fast....
Bradley breaks him down and since Bradley gets stronger as the fight goes on and Rios is so one dimensional it becomes very one sided after the 6th with Tim scoring a lop sideded UD..
IMO Khan gives him the biggest problems...The speed added with power beats Rios into the ground I say Khan is the only one I can feel confident in stating stops Rios....
Rios is a strong kid who has heart and power but as a boxer is very limited so has his comp thus far....Peterson just gave up and looked for the easy way out and he was just too strong for Acosta who when you look at his record has not been in with the best available either...
Rios has a long long way to go before he is ready for the best at 140....This kid could make 147 easy and do it in shape but his skillset would make him nothing more then a journeyman there

I don't think he's limited at all. He completely dominated Antony Peterson who is one of America's best boxers at the weight.
Acosta was a very decent fighter too, with KO wins over Paulus Moses and Urban Antillon taking both their undefeated records in the process.
I'm not sure Maidana has beaten any better guys than those two. Ortiz is decent but so far he's flash and hype over any actual substantial acomplishments. Certainly he made harder work of Peterson than Rios did.
I think Rios KO's Maidana in a brutal war.
Rios would do well against the top light welters but wouldn't win nearly as much as if he stayed at 135. The division is full of young guys with no true heir to the future and Rios looks more accomplished than all of them.
He probably has the most problems with Kahn because of his speed but has a chance to wear him down if he catches him. Zab Judah probably would've beaten him a few years ago.
Anyway any match up at 140 looks interesting but Rios is better served not finding out.
Maidana has been in with Better IMO...Peterson just went awry in that fight he basically looked for a way out and got a DQ in his efforts....Just the fact Maidana has been in with lasted 12 and shook the shit out of Khan tops any of Rios comp alone..,.
Agreed on Ortiz
I did say Maidana/Rios would be close I just thought Maidana hit a bit harder....But a win by Rios would not be a shocker in any way.,....
We do agree that He loses to Bradley and Khan though yes?
