...Well it's nice that you think that way, but it's erroneous because Vitali is still the WBC title holder.
Could there be a future rematch? Sure. Will there be a rematch...well I doubt it, but hell stranger things have happened. I do figure Vitali will retire before Solis is in any kind of shape to challenge for another belt.
amat, I don't question Solis' ability as a boxer. His amateur pedigree and success thusfar speaks for itself. I do not think Solis took that punch well at all...whether it caught him off balance or he twisted his knee throwing the punch that got countered, I don't know. But I do know Solis has been down early in a fight before (vs you know who in the amateurs) and a fighter of his calibre should NOT get caught off balance especially when he's boxing relatively well. Solis has plenty of upside, plenty of pro potential, but this knee injury isn't good for him and I never once thought his chin was all that great (regardless of whether or not the punch hurt him...I saw that it did as his left leg buckled, but whatever) being immobile or less mobile now after suffering the injury and never really training all that well is not going to help him out in the long run.
You've got to ask yourself...what's Solis going to do vs someone like Wlad who would tie him up and lean on him? What would he do vs someone like the WBA title holder that he'd have to stalk down? How's the knee going to hold up to that? How will it hold up if he's trying to fight in and out like he tried vs Vitali? When he got hurt he was on a good knee, now he'll have to do it on a knee that at best may be 95% what it used to be and I don't forsee Solis going on Slimfast anytime soon either.
