Not sure about blood and guts, but he would go after guys and look to destroy them. Then he ran into the late Vernon Forrest (RIP)... and any chance of him being a killer after that went out the f*ckin window. He was fine with guys that were at a disadvantage against him. But if you go back and watch that fight, I don't think Shane saw his own blood before that... Theres was a clash of heads Shane saw his own blood, panicked. Vernon caught him with an uppercut from hell. From that point on, I don't recall seeing Shane go after anyone like he did before that. He was put on notice that he wasn't invincible... More importantly, he bought into it completely.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

He was hardly Gatti, but he was never a pure boxer either. A guy that liked to go to war, but because of his combinations and handspeed always came off best. He didn't need to go into the trenches like a blood and guts fighter. Here there was no output, no combinations and because of that we couldn't even see how good the handspeed was.
Mosley of even just half a decade ago was night and day compared to this. I have never seen him so stiff, hesitant and just looking to see it through. Mayweather gave us very good glimpses, but this was considerably worse.
It really looked like a fighter looking for his last paycheck and I take no satisfaction in saying such a thing.
He still has the know how to go the distance, but has forgotten how to win rounds at the top.
