The Hatton/Pacquiao one was pretty bad for me. I had got so pumped up for it and was watching fresh off a hangover. That first round had my hands doing the shakes and then when Hatton was stopped in the second I admit that I did get a little cut up. I had to go to the corner of the room and the tears were there. I wiped them away and within minutes was on here telling my critics that yes I had got it wrong. I never really got over that KO.
And I must admit that I don't release tears easily. It's a once a year thing for a matter of seconds. I can be quite cold and heartless, but sometimes things do bubble up and that was one of the occasions.
Yeah Hatton's two loses were pretty taxing. They were the only fights I properly grieved over... I mean I literally did the whole cycle!
Fuck having to go through that TWCIE![]()

That's a good diagram, it sums a lot of it up nicely. Definitely at first I was looking at the TV just thinking "that didn't just happen" and then "no he's not getting up". Then the wandering around the room as if in a morphine daze and then finally the tears as it has hit home. Boxing is a cruel mistress.
Not sure if this would count, but mine would be seeing Gerald mclellan after the Benn fight.
There is an interview with him on YouTube and it's tragic and heartbreaking.
.......yeah but we still have to give them the right to have feelings. Just because we are heterosexual doesnt mean we (Andre, for example) can tyrannize and be cruel.![]()
This is my kind of thread. Yea I've shed a few tears watching some of my favorite fighters such as Chung Koo Chang, Chico and recently, Roy Jones.
The Korean Hawk, like so many other greats, came back from reitrement due to financial harships. He was a great fighter and a womanizer who cheated on his wife countless time with multiple mistresses. During he short time in retirement, he went around town sleeping with every woman possible so his wife got sick of him and ran off to America with all his lifesavings and the kids. So he came back and fought and eventually landed a fight with an undefeated Chiquita Gonzalez for the WBC Flyweight Title. Chang was not only old but he had many mileage on him and was mere shell of his former self. During the fight, it was just sad to see a once great fighter look so ordinary. It's not as if he took a beating or anything but he just couldn't pull the trigger at the right time. In my mind, he would have beaten Gonzalez at his best and the thought got me watery eyed, just a lil......
Chico is another special fighter who'll I always had a soft spot for and i didnt like the idea of him facing Clottey from the moment I heard about it. Not sure what it was but it seemed like Corrales intentionally wanted to harm himself. It was like a suicide mission. As expected, he took a beating but he took it like a true warrior, a modern gay gladiator. By the 9th round, I got really choked up and it was another one of those sick feelings.. I only watched that fight once and never looked back because it gets me everytime.
Now recently, Roy/Lebedev made me cry the most. It's funny because I wasn't a Roy fan earlier in his career. I became a fan when he lost a step and started losing. I got to appreciate him for his God-like abilities during his prime instead of poking at his resume. I look back, his level of competition is more than good imo. People say he ducked so and so people but the truth is, he fought and beat the number one contenders of his division. And on top of that, he was dominating these bigger fighters like bums. They say he should have fought Darius Michalczewski, but why? He may not have been the linear champion but he was the man regardless and everyone should have came to American to face him. He would have beaten darius anyways no doubt. Well, only after he got old, he started traveling abroad and that Levedev fight got me pretty good. GOing into the fight, I knew Roy was going to outbox him and I admit, I picked him to win by UD and it actually almost happened until those final seconds. Watching him take those last punches put a sick feeling in my stomach, especially when he fell down to the canvas and laid there lifelessly. IM sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. It was one of those ' sick to my stomach ' feelings one gets when they know someone is seriously injured. I saw some woman from his camp ( think it's his wife ) crying and it hit me too..
Sometimes my eyes get watery when I think of how much I love Boxing. When Im watching my favorite fighter Marquez for example, im so amazed by everything he does that i can't help but to choke up..
I was gutted when Hatton lost to Mayweather and i am still gutted at Mosley's performance against pacquiao, I never thought I would see the day when Mosley would get on his bike and not stand and trade.
I must admit I had a bit of a lump in my throat when they interviewed Katsidis after he lost to Marquez when he was talking about his brother who has just died and how much he missed him![]()
Nothings Sweeter Than Sugar
The same thing happened to my friend too. He had a little bit of tears in his eyes when Hatton was stopped in 2. It's not because he cared for Hatton or was a fan of his, but because he had betted that Hatton would get ko in the late rounds and had lost some money with such an early end to the fight
