I haven't seen the fight but judging from readin yours and marsx scoring sounds like there were bunch of swing rounds. One of you all said round five was sturms best round yet the other gave it to macklin...

    Judges

    115-113 Macklin

    116-112 Sturm

    116-112 Sturm

Well they robbed him proper like.

Felix Sturm SD. Feel bad for Macklin, he worked hard for 3 minutes every round.

116-112 Sturm once is joke, 116-112 Sturm twice, I'm not sure I have any words to describe it- does anyone get a decision in Germany? Don't get me wrong I expected it to go to Sturm with it being close but they could at least look as if they scored Macklin too...

David Haye got a decision in Germany

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Sturm will stay in Germany and be fed hot garbage for the next year until he's ready to do this return to America thing.

And to be fair there were a lot of swing rounds, but I think aside from the 12th Macklin took the last half of the fight.

Went like this to me in my interpretation

    Macklin rounds 1-2 clearly

    Swing rounds 3-5

    Macklin round 6-11 clearly

Sturm round 12 on the barrage.

Max swing on the cards I could accept would be 115-113 Macklin through 119-109 Macklin (although you know that won't happen in Sturm's hometown)

Also sounds like they will be setting up a rematch.

Good to see that I'm not sitting here thinking that the scoring by the Sky commentators was a little off, I thought Macklin was outworking Sturm, showing the aggression, and clearly won eight of the rounds, and two of the other four were narrowly to Sturm.

The old German decision though...feel bad for Macklin he definitely deserved the announcement "und der neue....."

Well first things first, hats off to both men for a very entertaining fight. Very close, hard to score, I felt Sturm swept the last few rounds and hurt Macklin a few times. I didn't score it rbr but I felt Jim Watt had it about right.

SD Sturm wasn't a robbery imo, just a typical result in a very close fight favouring the home fighter.

Certainly he was finishing the stronger and overal I think he landed the best shots, the more accurate and hurtful punches.

Great effort from Macklin though, he worked his ass off and put up a great effort.

I don't think it was a robbery, more like a close fight that could have gone either way or a draw. To beat Sturm in Germany, you're either going to have to clearly dominate him or knock him down a couple times. For what it's worth, I thought the most effective punches were thrown by Sturm, but not by much.

One hell of a fight. It was a very close fight and Sturm looks like he is done. Macklin on the other hand looked great, he showed how a jab is used to get on the inside, that right hook to the body and those uppercuts were excellent, tremendous punching combinations and one good chin from both guys.

best fight i have seen in a long time! I had macklin winning but as we were watching and it was nearing the end i said SD for sturm or draw. It was that close that giving it to the champ in Germany was not going to look like daylight robbery (rightly or wrongly)

The 2 judges scoring for Sturm need their heads looking at.

Macklin was far busier and applied pressure well but the same with a lot of his fights - when he does take shots he takes a lot of them and takes them clean, he made sturm look sharper than he was because when he was trying to box at range he wasnt so busy and his head movement wasn't what it needed to be. Sturm was only doing good in bursts and to be fair he covered up well most of the rounds he won were nicked.

I didnt have much hope for Macklin I had started to think he had got stale and was starting to slide ever so slightly but one thing i will say.......Any fighter going for a world title needs to be shown this fight!! Macklin pushed himself hard, he didn't hardly take a step back and he went to grab the title off the champ....I don't think he could have done anything more or different.....He was there to fight and when you go for a world title that's what you do!!

    Macklin great performance! Hard luck

I had it 10-2 for Macklin I thought he slugged the shit out of Sturm and outworked the dude all night fucking long. Such a bullshit decision in my eyes. The fact that Jim Watt had it a draw, shows that you could have had it closer if for some reason you liked Sturms sporadic work but I just didnt see that fight at all. Im pretty disgusted tbh how can close rounds not go to Macklin when youre putting in the effort he did?

I haven't been following boxing for awhile, but i see about this fight in the paper. And i thought Matthew Macklin would make it close, and it seems he done even better than i thought. Because people here think he won it, but apart from the ODLH fight. Ive never really been overly impressed with Felix Sturm, he's got a good jab but apart from that he's not really outstanding in any other department.

If Sturm actually used his jab then he might have been much more deserving of the win, but he just wasn't doing anything for the first six rounds at all.

good gameplan from macklin made it difficult for sturn to use the jab

i think it was a good performance all round much better than i had expected

it wasnt the biggest robbery the world has ever seen or anything tho, yeah macklin probably deserved it
