I hunt armed men...Considering leaving active duty for a job in Texas and a sweet National Guard gig. I have a BA in history and am working on a master in military science. Prior to the military I ran a bar and before that I worked for the school district with at risk youth.

I had an uncle (RIP) who did the same thing.
He would do construction but also did tons of fireplace work for the wealthy out here in Los Angeles.
As a sophmore in High School I worked with him on several projects involving fireplaces and also ceiling and tile work.
He made some really good money.
So did I when I worked with him.

Hey good for you Rob,how was your back? Mine kills, But yeah its ok, some risk evolved cause its heavy but fragile and because the clients usually own the surrounds from large importers and just get us to instal them, so we charge accordingly.
I couldnt be bothered with importing.Thats is where the biggest money is though, they cost from 800 to 2000 and sell here for 3,500 to 18,000 retail.

I have two days before going to my interview..... while I'm waiting I'm not stopping my new job home search. There was a job posting from a company about 6 months ago here in California near my home town. I used have some connection to when I worked overseas. I felt my experience was a good fit would at least get me an invite but I only got a courtesy response. Now they have re-posted the position and I found out the office handling the job is not San Francisco but Vancouver Canada. Weird how big corporate companies do stuff like that. I applied in a San Francisco position for Bechtel and I got a letter from the London office saying they had a position in UAE they wanted me to apply for.
I'm really very excited! I got a letter last Friday from a recruiter from Stanford. I would really love to get back home. I've been stuck in Southern California since 2004. When I got back from working in the Philippines, I tried 6 months to get work in the San Francisco Bay Area and I had to learn what being over-qualified was. (It means, you're older and cost too much money) The position looks like a far fit, I might be a little under qualified, but I'd love that work environment. Its a pretty damn big shopping list. I'd hate it if my interview goes well Wednesday and have to run up to Menlo Park for an interview, but I can't sit still watching the world pass by my door. I've got to make things happen.
