I know what it means, it's just an antiquated word.

Women, females, girls, whatever. If you call women dames then you are just a wierdo playing up the gentleman thing because who really says that? Nobody. That's who. Except weirdos like Lyle and Miles apparently. Pulling girls 101, don't call them dames. It's very strange.
