The only two guys p4p in the past 15 years that I would say were clearly better than Hopkins are Mayweather and RJJ. Besides that I have him up there with Whitaker and the rest of them. Hopkins finds ways to win, Calzaghe is as busy if not busier than Pavlik, he's a lot faster, and he is a better boxer. Yet against Hopkins he looked like an amateur who won for the simple fact people don't understand that clean punching wins rounds more than anything else.

Hopkins aim was to spoil, Joe was the one making the fight and Hopkins pathetic low blow claims and play acting all went againsed him, Joe won an awkward fight. Any judge favouring a cheat and a spoiler in a close fight needs a slap.

I agree with what you said about Pavlik, I don't think he has the experience to adapt to all the spoiling Hopkins is gonna depend on to win.
Stop humping Joe's leg, Hopkins made Joe look horrible.

I still don't see everyone argument, people claimed that Calzaghe, Wright, Taylor would all do out work Hopkins, but he stop every one of them from producing an effective offense, Technically Pavlik isn't on any of their levels except Taylor, and I don't how Pavlik will be able to do anything different than these guys, He doesn't bring anything new to the table except punching power, but you can't hurt what you can't hit.
I'm agreeing with you more then you think. I by no means think Taylor is going to look good and I expect a fight just like the one with Wright, Taylor and Calzaghe, with it being very close. And again, I thought Hopkins beat Calzaghe too. I just think that due to his workrate and great stamina that he'll be able to edge a very close decision like the others did. That's not counting Hopkins out, and I think it's foolish of people to slam this fight. There is literally no one better for Pavlik to face right now.

Talking Re: Are people honestly counting Hopkins out?

Are you talking about the pansy sport you call football or american football? ..j/k I've played plenty of soccer, and I am fully aware of the brutality involved.

Bernard good or bad for the sport was 43 and beat a guy who was p4p and 7 years younger, you think Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe are saints? They are both stuck up pricks

Taylor gave Pavlik some problems with just some movement but I'm not sure Hopkins really has the legs anymore. They definitely looked older last time out.

This is assuming Pavlik is as good as Calzaghe or Wright. Taylor was able to hang in there with Hopkins because he is a good athlete with good reflexes. HIs second fight with Pavlik showed that he was at least as good as Pavlik, maybe not as active of a puncher, but he was on the same level as Pavlik. Against Hopkins Taylor's speed and athleticism stook out because thats the kind of fight Hopkins fights, Taylor is way better coming forward than he is going backwards, and Pavlik made Taylor fight backwards. THat being said at this point Hopkins is a lot better going backwards then Taylor is, or anyone left in the sport. THat means Pavlik is coming forward against maybe the best counterpuncher in the sport with enough punching power to knock Calzaghe down, and stun him a couple of times, and Joe is a better athlete then Pavlik, he has faster feet which means more pressure, and he has better timing, accuracy, ring intelligence, etc.

Do you think he can cause a big upset by koing Pavlik?

That would be a huge upset, I just hope Kelly comes in shape and focused. He does these, Hopkins will be taking a nap.

B-Hop can KO Kelly but at this point in time Hopkins only throws 1-2 punches at a time.

I think Kelly's pressure and power show the old man the door.

Pavlik-Calzaghe(or RJJ if he wins) or Pavlik-Dawson would be good fights

I have never....Never picked against Hopkins.Sometimes it is really frustrating. This one all comes down to how much he is willing to risk. That lay back sniper right and slide off just will not cut it anymore....and as of late it has not.I honestly think he can get to Pavlik much but he must realize that his days at the top are over should he just coast around and take it all for granted & ride legacy. He can out think & out guile many fighters, but he needs to put hurt on Pavlik and follow it up.Take risk's against monster Pavlik or he will defiantly lose!

The latest six years B-fake has not fought a good fight unless counting Tarver - he clearly lost to Calzaghe throwing 1 to 15 - I would like to watch B-hype against a puncher like Abraham or Kessler - then we after the fight could talk about hype. Hopkins should try to fight in Europe, so he was not allowed to use his forehead as a third punch. He is the most hyped fighter in the latest 30 years and lost to the only other prime fighter at his own weight he fought in Calzaghe. And be then he is also NOT likeable with his racist mind and bad attitude when he loses - af he often does.

i think people should give hopkins 100% respect for the fact since turning 40......... he's fought an UNBEATEN JERMAIN TAYLOR TWICE.......... ANTONIO TARVER WHEN TARVER WAS NUMBER 1 LIGHT HEAVY................ WINKY WRIGHT WHEN WINKY WAS AVOIDED BY MANY TOP GUYS.......... THEN A WORK HORSE LIKE CALZAGHE..................NOW HE'S ONCE AGAIN GOING FOR AN UNBEATEN YOUNG STRONG CHAMPION LIKE PAVLIK......... i've seen interviews were calzaghe has said he wont fight pavlik but b-hop is made of much better stuff............. people here know i'm a big hopkins fan but i also like pavlik

In his prime Hopkins wouldn't have had much trouble with Pavlik but now he will probably IMO get KO'd
