I still think Mayorga vs Margarito would be the perfect match for them. But this could be a good 1 also. Rubio by late round ko.

By the way, why was he holding up his glove when Cotto threw that perfect check hook to KO him? I kept seeing him hold out his glove. He didn't even deflect the punch so it could not have been broken. It was a very strange sight for a guy to fight with such bravery and all of a sudden to do that.

Mayorga never does anything by the book. Remember he offered his chin to Tito, one of the hardest punchers of our generation, and nearly got knocked out.

Yes quitting in the 12th against Cotto due to being exhausted and hurt was heart breaking to watch as a huge Mayorga fan. He had fought such a good fight up til that point, I hoped he could least go the distance.

An interview and some very recent training footage of Mayorga YouTube - Ricardo Mayorga entrenando en el gym Iván MonteNeg

YouTube - MATADOR A DISIPAR EL VENENO

I can't speak spanish but im guessing Mayorga is questioning Mosleys strength late in the bout. If his twitter account is genuine he is constantly accusing Mosley of taking roids during there fight and that even jin told him

JCC Sr. would never allow Junior to face Mayorga at this point in time. Mayorga would have the "puncher's chance". He'd wait 5 more years, and then feed Mayorga's carcass to Junior to further fatten his bullshit record.

Can anyone who talks spanish translate what Ricardo is saying in the videos I posted above. They are both new, filmed in the last week.

Also, heres another interview with his trainers I think.

YouTube - EL VENENO ES FAVORITO
I asked my girlfriend to translate the FIRST video and this is what she said Mayorga was saying:

"forget about the technique, get in front and hit him, hit him hard that's all, at this state of the sport i'm not going to learn technique or anything, simply what i'm going to demonstrate one hundred percent discipline. Day n day i come fighting for my family to be well n have all necessities, simply i feel good its a very important step if i want the world title i have to beat rubio to have the option to fight chavez's son"

    Awesome!

You know what, I believed he could and can beat Cotto because I was hoping for that wild marauding strng fighter but he boxed. He needs to be very fit to fight like he used to but if he fought non stop mental like he did against Lewis and Forrest then he would have beaten Mosely and Cotto and who knows, he may have beaten Trinidad and De La Hoya too. I think his losses have come more down to fitness and inactivity between bouts than him not having the abiloty to beat those fighters. Forrest could have beaten all the fighters that beat Mayorga.

I thought and hoped he could beat Cotto as well. The Mosley fight was there for the taking, and the club and clinch style Mayorga used in that one was working, until he gassed out in the last round and got KO'd. In hindsight I don't think Mayorga ever had the talent to beat Oscar or Tito outside of a puncher's chance.

Inactivity and refusing to train right has shot Mayorga in the foot big time.

I believe he can outbox Rubio believe it or not, but I don't see him beating Chavez Jr. Just too big and with Roach in his corner and all the money behind him in addition to a huge youth and size advantage I'd view Mayorga as a real underdog against Jr.

But, that could all change if he looks great against Rubio.
