Uh huh...so there WAS opportunity for Wlad to rematch Sanders? 2004 Sanders loses to Vitali & Wlad loses to Brewster. Sanders then goes on to retire for 2005, then in his "comeback" he fought 1 time in 2006 & 1 time in 2007 and then lost in 2008. Wlad rematched Brewster when he got the opportunity. Mike Tyson never avenged a loss, Wlad did. I'm not saying that to hate on Tyson, I'm saying that because it's an accomplishment Wlad achieved that is overlooked and under appreciated.
Wladimir gets his big brother to beat up his opponents and fight his battles
"I'm going to get my big brother to beat you up!!" lol
Mike's resume was much better than Wlady's ... Wlady fought two 40 year old pension collectors this year and the human punching bag
Imagine if Tyson fought two 40 year olds in a row and a human punching bag ... Ironically it would be Klitschko fans to jump on him and criticize him before any others ...
But I can't really blame him ... this era is just that bad ... sadly this isn't true for Klitschko fans who will actually blame people for the era they fight in, such as Iron Mike who supposedly fought in a "weak era"
Wlad fought a man who was practically blind in one eye and in the hospital for 9 months and inactive for 15 months in total. And he was coming off a loss.
How was one eyed Brewster who was coming straight from his hospital bed to the ring supposed to beat him again? Where was Wlady the two years that he was champion? Brewster even said that Waldo didn't look for a rematch those two years

So Tyson fought 0 bums then?
Yes that's exactly right Brewster still had his hospital gown on for the fight correct? I mean Lamon signed to fight Wladimir what the fuck do you want from the guy? Wlad won a title after he lost to Brewster, Brewster had his mandatories & Wlad had his....it's not Wlad's fault Brewster lost to Liakhovich.
We all know a rematch could've been made within those 2 years
And yeah Tyson fought bums. EVERYONE fights bums. But even Wlad's elite level competition are bums ... look at this year alone ... two 40 year olds and a punching bag? One being a shot cruiser and another a 40 year old whom he already defeated?
Wlad's last high level opponent was Ruslan Chagaev ... who he fought 3 years ago.
I don't think you can say that Wlad's best wins are better than Mike's.
Oh of course "we all know".....why didn't I think to say that. I mean everyone knows every single detail of why which fights happened and which didn't and for what reasons....how silly of me.
When you have titles you have mandatories and even without mandatories Wlad has had to wait for his challengers to "get ready" like no other champion before him. David Haye & Alexander Povetkin drug their feet and hell Povetkin is STILL dragging his feet about a fight vs Wlad. Who is there for him to fight that is ready & willing? Certainly a Tyson fan can remember when Iron Mike had similar issues?
Who's trying to one up who? People looked at the topic and right off the bat "Pffft, Wlad wouldn't stand a chance"...what the fuck does Wlad have to do with the Tyson that fought Michael Spinks? I didn't bring it up, I just defended one of my favorite fighters. Why are people so eager to compare & contrast the two? Can you not just appreciate a fighter for what they did in their era? Mike Tyson isn't coming back, his time is over. I respect what Tyson did but he wasn't invincible, he wasn't unbeatable, he was a great fighter but let's not make him something he's not....it tarnishes what the man actually achieved in the ring.
I remember this fight and I am sure it was on the weekend but it is listed on a Monday how is that possible?
Spinks did an awesome job on destroying Cooney and he gave Holmes trouble but he shit his pants against Tyson.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Cooney was damaged goods after the Holmes fight, mentally he just wasn't the same. He got so hyped up and then dropped so low...the kid gave a valiant effort vs a great champ.
Holmes was a boxer first and not the biggest puncher in the world so I am certain Spinks felt he had time to win rounds and Holmes would allow him to box.
Tyson was a different animal. Tyson was compact, quick, explosive, and put his foot on the gas from the first bell. Spinks' fight or flight system was in full flight that night...the fight was lost in the introductions if not on the scales.
Huh? Come on. Holyfield had already been in line to fight Tyson, who would have met the winner of that had Mike gotten the chance. Wlad had absolutely no reason not to rematch Sanders other than out of fear of getting spanked again, which is quite understandable given Wlad hadn't learned how to hold yet. Wlad is a smarter fighter than he was then, why can't you just put it down to that instead of being juvenile? At the time it was a bit ridiculous for Vitali to come to the rescue, period. What was the reason behind Sanders never defending the WBO title and fighting Vitali for a vacant strap if not? Clearly Vitali was pushing to fight him and not Wlad.
Vitali personally came after Sanders right after the victory ... Sanders even commented on how unsportsmanlike Vitali was
Just pathetic. I'm going to get my big brother to beat you up. Wow, last time I heard something like that was when I was on the playground in elementary school ... Wlad still having his brother fight his battles as a heavyweight titlist. I wonder if his mother was still changing his diapers after he soiled himself against Sanders.
But I do agree that the Klits have nothing to do with this thread. This is about a 91 second destruction of an undefeated, lineal heavyweight champion by the most ferocious human to ever step inside a ring. Prime Tyson was like a caged animal ready to attack. Especially the Tyson of that night, literally terror personified. That Tyson would beat the best of any heavyweight fighter in history. The Lewis of the Golota fight, the Holyfield of the Foreman fight, the Foreman of the first Frazier fight, the Ali of the Cleveland Williams fight would all fall.
Nobody makes a big deal of when Wlad beat Chris Byrd after Vitali's loss to Byrd...Vitali never rematched Byrd, but yeah the Sanders fight gets brought up on a never ending basis.
Did Tyson not have a rematch clause vs Douglas? I would find it hard to believe.
