Funny thing is they might have as well taken the fight to 147 lb limit, Miguel made 146 the last time, 1 lb will not make any difference here
Manny will be outweighed by atleast 10 pounds come fight night.

there will be because cotto weighed 1 pound less than his last fight, that would make him severly drain

It would have been smarter to take it at 147 so nobody could complain. Pac still beats him there IMO

Damn! at fight night Pacquiao will only weigh 148-149 lbs. That's the highest weight Pacquiao can make. While Cotto can go up in weigh at fight night at 160 -170lbs. That's 10 to 20 lbs different.

Cotto have the advantage at weight

    and

Pacquiao have the advantage on speed

I was complaining; but fukk it if Cotto isn't bothered with it then who am I to complain? I just want to see it. This board will be fun in the buildup

If Cotto looks fresh... which he should at 145, then how can there be any excuses?

I've been one of his biggest critics for the catchweights and I don't think 145 is that big a deal for cotto

Fair play to Roach and arum... by flirting with 142 etc they've made 145 seem like a really good deal... probably the plan all along

it still does baffle me why they've asked for him to shave 1 pound off either they think they're being clever or it's just Diva behaviour... Cotto feels comfortable at Welter... he has a pound to play around with on the scales... so there's no stress for him. Now he's lost that pound and will have to be more stringent.

All I can think of is that he's only going to be very very slightly more stressed about making the weight.... but that's it... Just seems like Pac has wanted to throw his weight around (pun unintended) and dictate things for the sake of dictating them. I'm sure his fans will call it mind games or some shit... Personally I think if thats why he's asked for it then the effect will be negligable anyway... he would have been better off going for 147 so nobody can make any excuses.

Credit to Pac for almost stepping up in weight properly though... (lol the 142 bluffs/shit even make me happy with a catchweight)

I'd love to see him fight Mosely at 145... if Mosely can do the weight fine then I don't think Pac would stand a chance... Mosely's too smart and his chin's too good... that fight will never happen for that reason though.

Nice to see you on board now Adam and are finally agreeing with me that a 145 catchweight was no big deal.

Rains was being sarcastic though, he was rolling his eyes at the likes of you who in the past made posts telling us that even a single pound was critical and that Cotto would be a shell of a fighter if he fought at anything less than welterweight

Now you're even hoping for more catchweight fights with Mosely at 145, interesting turn around.

Frankly in this day and age of day before the fight HORSESHIT WEIGH INS, the day before the fight that is,it doesn't matter any more about weight. They have time to replentish themselves where as 25 years ago they weighed in 12 hours before a fight and had less time to recouperate, let alone in the early days when they weighed in right before the fight. It is time for the commissions to go back to same day weigh ins and maybe everyone will fight at their natural weight.

Pacquiao, Cotto to fight at 145 lbs

    By NICK GIONGCO
    July 20, 2009, 6:49pm
After having a private conversation via long distance call with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum over the weekend, Manny Pacquiao finally agreed to face Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico at a catch weight of 145 lbs.
Pacquiao adviser Mike Koncz said “adjustments were made” in the other provisions in the contract and the fight is green and go for the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 14.
Pacquiao had initially wanted to bring Cotto down to 143 lbs, citing Cotto is a natural welterweight (147-pounder) while he hasn’t really fought at that level even though he beat up Oscar De La Hoya last year.
Against the Golden Boy, Pacquiao only weighed 142 lbs and against Ricky Hatton last May, the 30-year-old pound-for-pound king tipped the scales at 138.
Pacquiao, Koncz and lawyer Franklin Gacal had originally planned to fly to the US to meet up with Arum to settle the issue but Koncz said that wouldn’t be necessary since Pacquiao has agreed to the terms.
“Bob is expected to make an announcement (about the Pacquiao-Cotto fight) within the week,” said Koncz.
Arum is coming off a three-week vacation in Europe.
Pacquiao’s itinerary in the coming days and weeks remains tight owing to his showbiz commitments.
