Default How did you score the Johnson vs. Froch fight ?

I had Johnson fairly clearly winning 6 rounds. I was torn over whether to give him the 11th or not. So ultimately I had it a draw, as did one of the judges.

There were a lot of cocky Froch fans on here saying how Johnson was going to get dominated and such nonsense.

It was a good fight, and I was disapointed that Glen slowed down in the later rounds, as he took a early lead on my card.

Froch did well, but really got A LOT of credit for flashy combos that landed on Johnson's gloves. He never hurt Glen, and didn't land a whole lot of clean shots. Certainly was fresher down the stretch though.

How did you score it ?

I had a draw, I have no problems with the scoring (aside from the 117-111 one of course.)

I don't see how Johnson could have won or for it to be that close. The final two rounds made a relatively close fight fairly unanimous. Froch started slow, didn't really show any power, but came good with a Calzaghe-esque template ie throw more combos than the other guy and avoid taking too many punches. Johnson was outworked plain and simple, though obviously Froch likes to go for a walk and doesn't have Calzaghes workrate. Johnson was always in the fight, but couldn't compete for workrate and faded at the end. You don't win a fight on 6 right hands that look great, those types of people probably think Hopkins beat Calzaghe too. They are nuts.

    116-112 to Froch.

I felt Johnson was severely discredited by the commentators (Showtime) and the commentating was an absolute disgrace. It infuriated me to no end that ALL FOUR commentators were against Johnson and heavily biased.

Johnson did A TON of body work that he did not get credit for. And he hurt Froch with a couple of crisp right hands.

Froch answered back with some flashy Sugar Ray Leonard slapping combos that would hit Johnson's gloves, though occasionally a left hook would connect on Johnson.

This fight was very close much like Johnson vs. Cloud, with the big difference being Cloud HURT Johnson badly, where Froch never did.

I had Johnson winning the 1-3, 6-8, and possibly the 11th, but Froch probably won the 11th.

I didn't see the Showtime broadcast, but on the whole I think Jim Watt was okay with the British broadcast. He gave Johnson his credit for starting better and was critical of Froch for being so hesitant and allowing Johnson to lead, but you can't just go on the commentary. I think he was a little too critical of Froch at times and so I had Froch winning by a little bit more. Johnson did do some good body work and landed an eye catching lead right every couple of rounds or so, but it just wasn't enough. Froch responded to every Johnson attack with his own combinations and after working Johnson out by the middle point took over more and more in the second half. It was a solid, but somewhat uninspired win. A case of starting slow and having to work out an awkward style and Froch did that.

Johnson's post fight interview said it all really, he didn't even challenge the judges and admitted where he thought it might have got away. If he isn't complaining then nobody else should be, he knows he was outhustled by the younger guy. Johnson is a very solid pro, but just too old. The Green fight was a bit of smoke and mirrors as Green was never very good to begin with. Johnson's last fights at LHW told the story and this fight just reinforced it. It's a good time for Johnson to retire. A fair last stand.

some of the combos were slapping. But they all weren't. Froch put something on his shots when he needed to. He back Glen up alot more in the 2nd half of the fight than the first half of the fight.

I can understand why the Showtime commentators were against Johnson, they needed two fighters who started the tournament to make the final credible.

I thought Froch didn't push himself enough and did just enough to get by. Although Johnson came forward, and landed the harder shots he didn't come out of his peek-a-boo defense. I gave Froch the last two rounds which gave it to him by three.

I had Froch winning by a couple. Like Big H said - Johnson landed the best single shots but Froch always responded with plenty. His rounds were more clear.

I expected to see a load of dopey robbery threads. So I guess Showtime scored it quite clear for Froch?

Like GuyIncognito76 said - there was no way Showtime wanted the final to be Ward and a substitute pensioner that fought only one of the original line-up. Bet they were shitting-it early on.

Glen only gassed due to froch pace, froch seriously adapted to glens style and clobbered Glen. This Glen was no different from the Roy jones Glen. Let's not forget froch compared to pre 2007 is way past his best. He does what he has to to win. And if people like Henry cooper who only fought who and then stab froch cos he isn't calzaghe then don't follow boxing!!!

I'm not doubting Froch's calibre, or his opponents. Don't forget I am a fan of Froch.

It's his style changing that worries me, but it's probably because I'm a selfish fan! I love the brawls, I preferred the Froch that fought and lossed to Kessler. All or nothing.

I had it 115-113 Johnson on the night, on a 2nd watch today I had it 114-114. Johnson got 1-3 & 6-8, while Froch had 4-5 & 9-12. There were some close rounds so I can see it as 115-113 either way or at a push 116-112, but I think the 9-3 scorecard was a joke.

I havent scored this round for round but I found it hard to give Glen 3. He made it a tough fight for Carl but he didnt do enough in the rounds. Froch won very comfortably.

I had it 8 rounds to 4. Froch out worked and out punched Johnson. Every time Johnson landed a big punch. Froch was right there answering back. This stopped Johnson in his tracks and loss him the fight. Good win for Froch.
