Is height a disadvantage?

If your short and you are facing guys that are always taller than you, even though your in the same weight class, is it a disadvantage because you do not have the same amount of reach that your opponent does?

It depends on a lot of things. If you're a short fighter that does most of your fighting on the outside it can be a disadvantage, more so if your taller opponent really utilizes his longer reach.

It's really a big disadvantage if you don't know how to slip their lead and if you stay in front of them. Normally if you're fighting a taller opponent you'll want to get into an advantageous position on the inside after you've slipped their punch. If you're fighting a taller fighter that wants to keep you at distance you'll need feint, or draw a left lead in which you can slip and counter them with your choice of an attack.

it can be if the tall guy fights tall and knows how to use it, but if the short guy knows how to fight tall people then it is a disadvantage but it makes it easier if he no wat he is doing, i jus confused m self when i reread that so to answer the question yes, but it takes much practce to learn to fight a tall one so that it wont be

For some reason reading this thread has reminded me how much I like my build... I can throw shots inside and outside!























It's just a shame I'm shite! In all honesty though... I've had a bad wrist which has almost fully healed... it's put me out of action but I'm really looking forward to next season... my body just seems to be developing... I've never felt anywhere approaching this strong or fit before!
