    Default The Leaping Left Hook

..or right hook in my case. How exactly is this move performed and what are some set ups? I've been studying patterson, tyson, and frazier trying to pinpoint the details. From what i gathered

You take a step forward with your lead foot, as you are doing that you twist/torque your body to load up the left hook, keeping it close to your body. You then use the momentum of the forward step and leap step off your rear foot towards your opponent while unleashing the coiled left hook.

Is this description sound? What steps am i missing?

But the question i have is, Some leaping left hooks that i saw were not performed with the pivot of the lead foot (at one point they had both feet in the air) , and some of the hooks i saw were rather wide and over extended but i could be wrong. I've read that a lead hooks power comes from the twist/pivot of your front foot and keeping your arm bent at a 90 degree angle.

So are any of you guys informed about this move? Or can give me some advice on how to perform it. Itd be cool if we could discuss.

p.s. Is a 'gazelle blow' just a plain ol leaping left hook? sorry been watching too much ippo :P

The leaping left hook sounds dangerous. It's hard to pull off and it's asking for a right hand in return. When you leap/lunge with a punch you're really committing to it, and if your timing is wrong then you'd have given opponent your head on a platter.

I guess if you wanted to work on it you'd have to improve your hand/feet speed, of course your timing, and knowing when to use. You'd want to throw the punch as soon as your feet touch the ground, and quickly pivoting on your front foot and giving a little pivot to your back foot if you need a little more power.

I think I heard of the Gazelle Punch, I think that it's an uppercut that uses the drive of the legs out of a crounching position.

If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
