    Default Noise

I just can't take this shit anymore. The noise is everywhere!!!! I went to the park to relax and read but the damn election truck, with the noisiest megaphones, and most annoying old women doing their weird dance, parked itself at the end. They proceeded to blast their megaphones at me. After 30 minutes I couldnt take it anymore and came back home. And now for the last 40 minutes since being home some absolute cunt has been yelling into his microphone. Obviously another fucking candidate. Im fucking livid. All my windows and doors are closed and its everywhere. I even went to the bathroom and closed myself in and jumped into the empty bath. And still that shrill metallic drone piercing my skull. And now they have this stupid old style Korean music blaring out. Im tempted to go out there and unplug it all but I may very well get lynched. There are actually people listening to this crap out there. But why so loud? And why for so long? I just wanted to get some reading done and I havent done very much at all and its impossible with all this damn noise!!!

That post was somewhat raving. I actually went out to find the root of the problem and there were about 50 middle aged women dancing in unison whilst some old man with the most obvious fake dyed hair was huffing and puffing into a microphone. It was a bizarre sight and one that I hope nver to see again. 30 seconds after I got out they all got onto a big bus and drove away followed by a truck emblazoned with a cheesy poster of the fake dye guy. Im back home and all is peaceful again. Until the next time......It'll be the damn onion sellers next.

I need a cup of tea....

IN Penang you wake up each morning early with some Muslim man yelling into a megaphone all islamic stuff calling you to the mosk.
BallllAAAAAHhh bah blaHHH arch blahhhahhhh for ages! Theres no windows just bars over spaces and you hear Aussie voices from hotel rooms yelling back "shut the fuck up".
I woke to that early one morning and then went down the street and eventually got arrested for suspicion of herion trafficing.
    Malasia sucks too.

One night I was lying in bed. It was one of those nights you need sleep. You've had a hard day and your about to have a perfect rest.
I was dozing, just falling asleep with a smile on my face and I hear this terrible noise.
    mweeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhwwweeaahhhh.
    My eyes blink open...
I start to doze off again...
    MWEEEAAAAAAAWWWWEAAAAAAAHHHHH.
I rose from my bed, bounded down the stairs, grabbed the sweeping brush and flung the door open in a rage...

Cats don't come near my house anymore.

I dont mind people trying to sell onions or canvas voters but there should always be a respect for the people who are trying live a quiet life. The onion sellers arent so bad because they do tend to go away after a few minutes. But these electioneering nutters just keep at for an hour or more. And in the middle of the day. Most people are at work anyways.

I have a lot of difficult reading to get through. I might try and shove a screwdriver into my ears to stop them working.

I think, like me, your mind distinguishes between "natural sound" and "excessive man made sound."

If it's people bustling through a town chatting loudly, I don't mind all that much.

If it's a convoy of huge trucks ploughing through traffic loudly, I do mind.

Last year we had some noisy neighbors and they were making a racket outside our apartment at about 2am. I tend to get irate quite easily and so opened the door and not so politely asked them to shut the fuck up with their shenanigans. I had a bit of a rant actually. I tend to argue my case in English despite nobody ever being able to speak English. The couple quickly went into their home obviously not wanting to deal with the loony foreigner.

I felt a bit bad about having dealt with it so rudely and the next day asked the wife to apologise on my behalf for not having been a bit more polite. The woman explained that they had been frightened because they suspected I was American and may very well have had a gun!!

When I heard that I had a good chuckle. I dont think they had had much interaction with foreign types!

Yeah, I agree with that. Normal hustle and bustle is fine. Children playing in the park, the sound of the howling wind on the window panes. I like those noises. I have issues with heavy industry and grating tannoy systems. They are really unpleasant.

I like you, went abroad assuming everyone would understand me. I was wroing big time.
I ended up having to explain my expressions, accent and coloquialisms even to English speakers!

Dead right, it's just on my Friday nights I can't stand excessive noise. It's my rest and recovery night and I simply detest when it's interrupted.

Damn this spreading the rep...will rep you later.

Yeah, you have to adapt the language you use a lot in a foreign land. A lot of idiomatic expressions just go over most heads. Heck, even basic greetings go over a lot of heads where I am!!

    Yeah I completely understand that,
In the US I was amazed at the lack of effort they put in tomlistening.
I had to alter my speech pattern just to communicate because they think that only American accents count

My students still get a kick out of me saying water with the strong T sound. I come across as a relatively accentless Brit but I do find the need to moderate the language and accent I use in the classroom. British English just aint in vogue out here.
