Default Margarito, horrible boxer, good fighter

I take back anything I said about Margarito having any boxing ability whatsoever because Cotto made him look horrible for 6 rounds. But he makes up for it with his ability to absorb punishment and keep coming forward.

I knew if Cotto went near the ropes too often it would cost him. He did some great defensive work at times but I knew he would tire later on and get tagged...just never knew he would be so hurt from it.

What are the Cotto fans saying now? He got his @@z kicked , mentally and physically. I just won me lots of money! I never bought into the Cotto hype of him punishing fighters with lesser power and will. It was sweet to see him on the other end of what he has been dishing out !!

Margarito does have an awkward style and it looked as though Cottos punches were stronger. But in his own way Margarito breaks down his opponents and you just need to look at their faces after the fight. Yeah, Margarito can absorb shots and just keeps on trying to close the gap throwing those punches.

I agree that Cotto looked fantastic in the first 6. Made Margarito look slow frequently.

Huh? Tony looked horrible? I think it looked even worse to have a guy that KOs opponents have Tony walk through his punches and giving him a beating at the end.

There was someone here in the forum that had a signature with Cotto's opponents' bloody faces after the fights. He should add Cotto's face in there.

Yep, his boxing skills werent v good at all.

BUT...who cares about skills when you have a chin that is as hard as the chaffed skin on big mammas inner thighs! And more stamina than a huskey dog!

The guy is like rocky marciano...he just keeps coming and coming, afraid of no one, will take anyone on and isnt afraid to lose...a pure warrior.

In the end, all of cotto's skill and power (a v skillful and powerful boxer) didnt seem to hurt marg one bit! Infact marg seemed to get stronger and stronger whilst cotto deteriorated as the fight went by. Cotto got rocked badly in one of the later rounds (9th i think) and i though marg was gonna ko him actually then, it came after cotto got caught with a left hook and was rocked. Then in the 11th he just got battered down into submission.

To see someone take all of those shots and not get rocked once is unbelievable...i mean, lets say had it been hatton, de la hoya or mayweather taking those shots that cotto threw and landing at such a good rate, they wouldve been ko'd (i think what cotto threw and connected with on marg wouldve ko'd floyd), BUT IT DIDNT EVEN ROCK MARG ONCE!

I have never seen anything like it...his chin and stamina is on another level.

If marg had really slick skills aswell as his chin and stamina, then he would bang the fuk out of floyd for breakfast.

I disagree with the school of thought that says if you cant hurt Tony he will walk you down cuz Paul couldnt hurt him either

Cintron and Cotto fell apart cuz they couldnt keep Tony off them. I do think though that Cotto wont ever be able to beat Tony cuz he will always try to box but end up fighting Margaritos fight.. Tony is fantastic against smaller men . He overwhelms them, so he should try to go for a Berto , Judah , Cotto rematch cuz bigger guys like Paul Williams and Santos have the answer to his style and its cuz they are bigger men .

    PBF, great boxer, shitty fighter.

This fight has me more pissed off at PBF. This guy hasn't given the fight game DIck in the past 5 years. Compared to these guys, PBF is like a professor who preaches theory but has never been practicing in his field.

How is Mayweather a horrible fighter? Watch him fight Burton, Corley, Judah, Ndou, Chavez, the first 17ish fights of his career, Chavez. Mayweather can stand there and dish out when he isn't fighting 17 pounds over his natural weight.

First of all Mayweather has been slighly hurt only once, and Cotto would never land those type of punches against Floyd.

Who cares if he can't box? Well sure he can beat a guy who is better coming forward, but what happens when he fights a guy that knows how to move around, Paul Williams gave Margarito so many problems for 6 rounds because he was moving, When Paul stopped using footwork is when Margarito started picking it up.

If anybody thinks Margarito could even hit Floyd solidly in a fight, they are dreaming.

He boxing skills were horrible. Why is it so bad that somebody can take your punches, There are some guys that can walk through anything. David Tua could do it, He walked through Lewis' punches, He walked through everything Ike threw at him, but while Ike only did well at the begining with his superior boxing skills, Lennox completely humiliated Tua because he was a better true boxer.

ANYONE who thinks Margarito is a great boxer is absolutely DILLUSIONAL!
You will not see ONE pro trainer teach it's up and comers to fight like Margarito...NOT ONE!

Tony's style will only work...will ONLY WORK if you have a chin made out of Adamanteum. I have NEVER seen anyone who was so CLEANLY hit by power shots like Margarito. 99/100 boxers would have been on the canvas if they took the same shots Cotto dished out.

Margarito won that fight SOLELY based on his chin. That's something Cotto CAN'T solve. Cotto's only chance IF there were to be a rematch is somehow sustain the running and shooting he did for 12 FULL rounds instead of just the first 6 rounds. Any other strategy will simply NOT work...

and so the backstabbing begins, now that his 0 is finally gone, even though it was in a fight that was virtually even at the beginning of the 11th, he's a loser and was overhyped , Cotto is a world class fighter, and deserves all the credit he has ever been givin, also one of the classiest fighters in the sport at that, all you backstabbers are what make boxing a dirty sport, you people fucking disgust me, last night was a great fight against TWO great fighters, you disagree, then fuck off
