even with a link..........this means absolutely nothing. Boxers retiring is so cliche.
They retire because they have to.
"If there's a better chin in the world than Pryor's, it has to be on Mount Rushmore." -Pat Putnam.
if-pacman-saying-he-will-retire-aint-worth-talking-about-what-is-hell-hes-in-his-prime-and-on-top-hes-got-to-fight-mayweather-first-or-he-will-be-rememberd-for-ducking-him.dont-you-think.
Now that Pac MIGHT think about retiring, I can't see hardcore PacFanBoys complaining anymore that Mayweather is ducking quailty opposition.
There were so many fights ahead for Pac if he retires.
Where is this article? I can't find jack shit!
It would be a huge stinker if he did retire, from a boxing fans perspective anyway.
Theres been rumor that pac will run, in the 2010 election but haven't heard it come from him.
He has commented he would retire when he begin to feel he is slowing down. He said he would announce how he feels when the time comes. I doubt he will retire after 1 more fight, he is likely to face JMM/Floyd winner, cotto or mosley or a random 147 title match. Now that pac old manager is gone his not being held back to fight for title because his old manager didnt want any of his cut being paid to title fees. Crooked bastard![]()
It's not a rumor, He has stated it many times already. He also mentioned in 3 or 4 interviews that I watched he was only looking at two or three more fights before he retires.
One might read between the lines and guess that he is looking for two or three more mega paydays. i.e. enough money to complete an investment plan/goals. If this is close to being the case, he might be closer to his plan/golas with the big PPV numbers 850K + UK PPV Number about the same.
$12 million + what ever the cut is. I thought I read he made ~20+ Million with Oscar. $11 Million + what ever the cut is of 1.25 Million buys.
You might consider the following as a "rumor" because it is quoted as hearsay and not directly from Pacquiao.

Pacquiao itching to fight Marquez
By Ronnie Nathanielsz
JUAN Manuel Marquez’s tactic of trying to get under Manny Pacquiao’s skin may be working as the world’s no. 1 pound-for-pound king now wants to settle the score with the Mexican.
Pacquiao’s business manager Eric Pineda told Inside Sports|, Standard Today and Viva Sports that the Filipino champion wants to fight Marquez, “to erase any doubt, once and for all.”
Pineda said that in both fights against Marquez, Pacquiao suffered cramps in his legs. “They hurt, since Manny’s power comes from his legs.”
Pineda said Pacquiao doesn’t appreciate the bad-mouthing from the Mexican.
“He wants to hammer Marquez. This time, it will be shorter than the [Ricky] Hatton fight,” said Pineda of Pacman’s TKO win, which ended in 2:59 seconds of the second round. The International Boxing Organization light welterweight champion was knocked senseless with a deadly Pacquiao left hand after being dropped twice in Round 1.
But Pacquiao-Marquez fight may have to wait since the Mexican signed to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. hours before Pacquiao’s showdown with Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in what has been criticized as a cheap attempt to try and steal the thunder from the Pacquiao-Hatton fight.
In his latest statement, quoted by Mark Vester of Boxing Scene, Marquez said his dream is to become the best. “To do that, I have to face the best. Pacquiao doesn’t want anything to do with me, so I decided to fight the best and that is Floyd Mayweather Jr.”
Golden Boy Promotions’ Oscar de la Hoya earlier claimed that no matter what people say, as far as he is concerned, Marquez beat Pacquiao in their two fights.
In their first fight, Pacquiao dropped Marquez three times in Round 1, before the Mexican counter-punched his way to salvage a draw. In the rematch, Pacquiao again dropped Marquez once in Round 3 to win a split decision and grab Marquez’s World Boxing Council super featherweight title.
