"I don't want to take a tune up fight... I want to fight the best fighter"
Cool story Manny.![]()
I think he lost alot of brain cells from that KO cuz he's been sounding dilusional lately.
" It was a lucky punch " says Pacman. lol
Rios is a dangeorus opponent to an extent but at the same time, he's tailor made for Manny which was why he was chosen.
That is not the point. Manny could have fought a scrub and would have gotten a pass due to his last fight. I'm no fan of his per say but I cant think of a fighter at the very top who has lost in the way he did and then taken on a fighter like this and not a tune up. Anybody who thinks Rios is a tuneup is a blithering idiot. The only guy I can think of in this era is Lewis. Some guys have a less the stellar showing and take a walk in their next fight.
Yes, that is the point. Read my first post in this thread.
The fight will not be competitive. Rios' come forward style and leaky defense are tailor made for Pacquiao. They chose him because he's pretty much guaranteed to make Pacquiao look sensational again. Don't call it a tune up if you don't want to, but this guy clearly doesn't belong in the same ring with Pacquiao. This fight has one sided beat down written all over it.
You have lost the plot. What should have he referred to Rios as? I suppose he could have called him a fighter not on his level.
And he's also fought nothing but greats. Blaming him alone still after all of this time for the phantom fight not coming off is almost as short sighted as the interpretation by you of his comments regarding Rios.
Who's taking the risk here after being put to sleep for 2 minutes? How many fighters have come back after being knocked out cold like that and have taken on such an opponent? Give me some historical perspective with this fight?
This fight should be a walk in the park on paper but we have to take Pacquiao's current state of mind into account. History has shown that fighters who suffer devastating knockouts, the ones where they fall face first in particular and put to sleep for minutes , do not ever fully regain form.
Take Paul Williams and Hatton for instance. They were knocked out in the same fashion and both left a part of themselves inside that ring.
Pacman is no superman and he too can be effected the same. There is a high chance that he might not be the same fighter physically and psychologically..
With that said, Brandon Rios is more than respectable as his comeback opponent. Pacquiao showing us what a true warrior he is..
He could have easily chosen an easier route like Josesito Lopez or a Mauricio Herrera type and nobody would have blamed him but he would rather fight a battle tested young gun in Rios..
This is a bold move..
I’m not going to scrutinize a guy to death with about a grade 2 command of the English language who possibly chose the wrong adjective to describe an upcoming opponent on a live show to promote their fight. And I don't think it will be a walk in the least.
I'm sorry but I always find a need to see Stephen "A" smacked with a metal trashcan
Anyway, this is a good style match. Its a good fight and hats off to Manny for going right back into the grinder. Rios is ALOT of things but given Manny was last seen teething on the canvas in a stroke pose with his jaw jacked its a respectable move. Style wise I think he'll chew Rios up like a wood chipper, but we'll see.
Not keen on it all yet again reverting to a conversation on Floyd. Rios sounds like a a guy just glad to be a spactator at times. Bit of a slight to both, who cares why those two divas could not get their egos in check. Enough. They better focus.
The truth is he's taking on a B level fighter and should just STFU about "fighting the best". I don't need to give you any historical perspective. I'm merely pointing out the fact that he was full of shit in this interview, and I don't see how anyone can seriously argue that he wasn't.
I feel the same way about Skip Bayless everytime he opens his mouth about Boxing. That dude clearly do not know shit about this sport but he acts like he does. Constantly making up stupid mythical matchups and coming up with ridiculous assessment of fighters.
Skip Bayless is fuckin stupid. I wanna slap the shit out of him
Neither of them know a damn thing about boxing, and it was Stephen A who started in with the BS hype when he was like "Manny, you got knocked out cold in your last fight and now you're taking on THIS GUY" ...As if Brandon Rios is some world beater that he knows all about because he's seen so many of his fights. Stephen A probably never even heard of this dude before he was told he was coming on the show.
