Sugar Ray Leonard and Sergio Mora to attend the 75th Annual San Francisco Golden Gloves!

By Boxing Press March 16th, 2006 All Press Releases

The San Francisco Golden Gloves has recently announced that six-time world champion Sugar Ray Leonard and The Contender champion Sergio Mora will be in attendance to show their support for the 75th Annual San Francisco Golden Gloves event scheduled to take place between March 21st and 25th at the Bill Graham Civic Center.

Both fighters have been heard on several Bay Area radio stations over the past several days discussing how the prestigious San Francisco Golden Gloves tournament has served great purpose for amateur boxers, professional boxers and communities nationwide. As former champions of the Golden Gloves themselves, this is their way of giving back to what Sugar Ray Leonard called “the backbone of amateur boxing”.

“The San Francisco Golden Gloves gives amateur boxers a sense of accomplishment and professional boxers a sense of pride. Whether or not these young men and women decide to turn professional, they will always belong to elite company after having fought in the SF Golden Gloves tournament” stated Leonard.

“I’m a man who never forgets his roots,” stated Sergio Mora. “If my participation at this landmark event will help motivate young amateur boxers to chase their dream, I am more than willing to show my support and provide that extra boost of encouragement.”

Five nights of live boxing action will kick off March 21st through March 25th with a special theme for each night including the “KNBR Night of Champions” finale where Leonard and Mora will provide guest commentary for the Comcast On Demand telecast.
