Cameron Hammond Spars Ex-World Champ Anthony Mundine Down Under

Australian prospect Cameron Hammond couldn’t have hoped for better sparring ahead of Friday night’s clash with Jody Allen at the RSL Club in Dubbo, New South Wales.

The 24-year-old, who represented his country at the London 2012 Olympics, has been sharing the ring with former world super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine as he prepares for his own October 23 mega-tussle with Shane Mosley.

Cameron, 3 – 0 (2 KOs), was given the opportunity due to him having a similar style to the legendary American veteran and he’s been invited back for more after this week’s fight.

“It has shown me just how much hard work I need to put in to reach the next level. I’m really happy with how it went,” he said. “I can’t wait to fight on Friday night. I’ve been training hard and I’m looking forward to getting another win

“I’ve already locked in some more sparring sessions with Mundine after that fight, probably in Sydney, but first I have to make sure I win impressively in Dubbo on Friday.”

Hammond’s Manager Matt Clark was impressed with what he’s seen of his charge in the gym and – as well as impersonating Mosley – he says Cameron has picked up a few moves from a certain Mr Hatton.

“Our team is delighted with Cameron’s sparring efforts. He showed excellent hand speed,” Clark said. “He’s been trying to emulate Ricky by doing some damage to the body and it’s really coming along. I’m looking forward to Cameron going to 4-0 on Friday night.”
