Gonzalez, Barthelemy Put World Titles At Risk Tonight

There are two world titles on the lines this evening as WBC Featherweight king Jhonny Gonzalez and IBF super feather boss Rances Barthelemy both see action.

Gonzalez, 56-8 (47), faces big ticket seller Jorge Arce, 64-7-2 (49), at the Multiplex Arena in Los Mochis, Mexico in what is sure to be an exciting bout for as long as it lasts.

At 35, Arce is on the downside of a great career that saw him hold world titles at light fly, bantam and super bantam while Gonzalez at 33 is still in his prime in his second reign as featherweight champ after holding a world title at bantam.

Expect no more than five rounds of all-guns blazing fisticuffs with Arce probably finishing the contest on his back but one can never count out “Travieso”.

Barthelemy, 20-0 (12), meets the challenge of Argentina’s Fernando David Saucedo, 52-5-3 (8), at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

Saucedo has a lot of experience and can box but without a concussive punch will be at a definite disadvantage against the far taller Cuban champion.

Barthelemy doesn’t fight tall however, largely giving up his height advantage to scrap on the inside, giving the challenger a chance if he can control the distance and pace but this will probably be a successful defense for the champion.
