Ward vs. Miranda Boxing Workout Open To Public Today In Oakland

Super middleweight contender Andre Ward and dangerous Colombian puncher Edison Miranda will participate in a free public open workout today as they wind down final preparations for their eagerly awaited showdown this Saturday, May 16, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA.

The open to the public workout takes place at The Plaza, located between Oracle Arena and Oakland-Alameda Coliseum, at 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland, CA, 91733 today, starting at 4:30 PM.

Ward, a highly touted and talented 25-year-old, is 18-0 (12), and remains the last American to win gold. Miranda is 32-3 with 28 knockouts.

In the main event of an outstanding show on Saturday, May 16, Ward the undefeated 2004 U.S. Olympic Games gold medalist will fulfill his goal of staging a championship bout in his hometown of Oakland when he takes on his most dangerous challenge when he faces Miranda, the Colombian KO artist who has gone toe-to-toe with world champions Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham.

The 12-round fight for Ward’s NABF and NABO super middleweight titles will be the featured bout on a special Saturday primetime edition of ShoBox: The New Generation, Live on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast.

What will be an exciting, memorable event will include unbeaten 2008 U.S. Olympian Shawn Estrada, and top junior lightweight prospect John Molina, Jr., on the undercard.

The event is being promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with Leonard Productions. The Ward-Miranda bout will be presented in association with Seminole Warriors Boxing.

Tickets are on sale at Oracle Arena box-office and at www.ticketmaster.com Doors open at 4:30 p.m. PT. The first non-televised fight is 5 p.m. PT.
