Default Oscar was talking about weight lifting

Maybe its just me, but he had more power on the left hook than Trinidad did when he was fighting Mayorga, and ODLH never used to hit even close to as hard as Trinidad... My question is concerning him saying he never used to weight lift before this fight, and if he is a harder puncher than ever before?

It may have something to do with that Oscar went down the pipe with the right hand and brought the leverage all the way over for his left hook, while Trinidad's left hook he usually leads with and doesn't follow from the right hand like Oscar does.

I agree with Starr. Oscar sets you up for a left hook, Tito just blasts you with it. Also, most people can see Tito's left, it's just hard to get away from it, Oscar's left is unseen because he sets it up. Unseen punches usually hurt more.

But he seems to get more snap of his lefts(Oscar) not just that Mayorga didn't see it comming... Also Trinidad got amazing leverage for his left hook, probably up there with Frazier in terms of power to strength ratio for how hard he hits, but Oscar on the first knock down didn't seem fully planted or anythign and he still knocked Mayorga on his ass.

Mayorga is washed up. Plus, Oscar probably dipped his hands in plaster before he put his gloves on.

Mayorga only had one fight inbetween Trinidad and Oscar Dela Hoya, and he had an easy fight inbetween both opponents.. maybe Oscar just hits harder?

No, he just carries better leverage on his shots. And the second knockdown was a barrage of temple shots Nothing to do with Mayorga's chin. And in all seriousness, any other boxer would have been KO'd by that first left hook.

I agree that it was a left hook which could have kayoed a lesser fighter. Oscar not only sets up his left hook with the right hand but his comes with speed which most opponents don't see and the punches that you don't see have a bigger effect.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

still holding on to that invisable thread of proof that mayorga is actually a ggod fighter with a granite chin huh?......that shot hit clean onthe jaw and down went mayorga....a ton of the shots that hit mayorga on the second knock down were straight shots not temple shots...dont try to use the "o he was disoriented routine" again...he got hit with solid shots on the chin that ultimately put him down...not temple shots.....In fact 95% of the temle shots and rabid shots that landed were from mayorga.... let it go....ODLH is better than you thought and is far from being washed up....
It feels good to be back home.

If Mayorga doesn't have a chin then Mosley's chin is made of glass and DLH isn't a hard puncher

ODLH was standing straight up when he delivered the first hook knockdown... and even so he never hit as hard with his left hook as Trinidad did before this fight.

Left handed people have 3 times the heart problems and do not live as long as right handed people.
