  • WBA King Golovkin Belts Out Ishida In Monte Carlo Masterclass

    Undefeated WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin was in blazing form in Monte Carlo on Saturday night, destroying Nobuhiro Ishida’s ambitions with a clinical third round knockout.

    A straight right hand over the top caught Ishida high and instantly knocked him unconscious, marking a seventh successful title defence for the impressive champion. (more…)

  • Akhundov Overcomes Chaos In Kiev To Outpoint Khatsyhau

    With a last minute pull-out from the original opponent, French Champion Bastien Rozeaux, it was nerve-wrecking to the end if a suitable substitute would be found to fight Timur Akhundov for the vacant World Boxing Federation Featherweight title on Saturday in Kiev, Ukraine.

    In came Belarusian national champion Khavazhy Khatsyhau, who was fit and ready as he was already in training for a bout on the same day, and the visitor didn’t just come to Ukraine to make up the numbers, he made a proper effort and gave Akhundov plenty to think about. (more…)

  • Hilongwa Defeats Twani In Windhoek Super Fly Thriller

    In an outstanding fight and one of the best seen in Namibia in many years, Joseph “Smokey” Hilongwa produced a mercurial performance by outworking a never say die Sibusiso Twani of South Africa to win the vacant World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Super Flyweight title on Friday (March 29).

    The pair went toe-to-toe in a clash promoted by Ludwig Haimbodi and Warriors Promotion, with WBF President Howard Goldberg at ringside taking in the magnificent action along with a partisan crowd at the Windhoek Country Club. (more…)

  • Maciello vs. Nugaev New Main Event On Friday Night Fights

    Lightweight contender Marvin Quintero (25-4, 21 KOs) is out of his IBF lightweight final eliminator against Ammeth Diaz (31-11, 22 KOs). Quintero was forced to pull out of the April 5th bout — which was scheduled to be the main event of ESPN Friday Night Fights — after breaking his nose in camp.

    The main event has been revamped and fans in attendance at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California will get an opportunity to see fast rising lightweight Jonathan Maicello (19-0, 11 KOs) as he squares off with Russian lightweight Rustam Nugaev (22-6-1, 12 KOs) in a 10 round catch weight of 137lbs.     Tony Bellew fixed his gaze on Isaac Chilemba at today’s weigh in for tomorrow night’s ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ bill at the Echo Arena in Liverpool live on Sky Sports, and said he will go ‘to the trenches’ in their official final eliminator for the WBC light heavyweight title.

    Tony Bellew has warned Isaac Chilemba that he is willing to go through the pain barrier and beyond for victory in their official final eliminator for the WBC light heavyweight title on Saturday night, in ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, live on Sky Sports.

    Bellew and Chilemba came face-to-face for the first time at yesterday’s press conference at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool ahead of the crunch clash on Saturday, and the hometown star rejected the thoughts of Chilemba’s trainer Buddy McGirt, who predicted Bellew would struggle to cope with the pressure of performing in front of a huge Merseyside crowd.     Derry Mathews and Anthony Crolla say the rematch of their fight of the year clash in ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ at the Echo Arena on Saturday live on Sky Sports will steal the show on a bumper night of boxing in Liverpool.

    Mathews ripped the British title from Crolla in Oldham in April after six fast and furious rounds of boxing.   • Super Feather Prospect Joel Diaz Returns To Ring April 4

    Junior lightweight prospect Joel Diaz Jr. (11-0, 10 KOs) is healthy and ready to make his 2013 debut on April 4th at the Bayou Event Center in Houston, Texas against Victor Sanchez (4-5-1, 1 KO).

    Diaz was scheduled to face Tyler Asselstyne on February 8 in the co-feature of ESPN Friday Night Fights until he was sidelined with a wrist injury. The injury is healed and Diaz is ready to resume his impressive campaign towards the top of his division. (more…)

  • Guerrero Arrested, The Released At New York’s JFK Airport

    Early this morning Six-Time and Four Division World Champion Robert Guerrero was checking in his luggage at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, bound for Las Vegas, and, as he was doing so, made sure to advise the authorities that they needed to be aware that he had a firearm, which was unloaded and in a locked safe box with his luggage to be checked.

    Guerrero was carrying no ammunition and was within his legal right to possess such firearm in the state in which he resides. He was then arrested. (more…)
