  • Imam vs. Granados Supports November 28 Showtime Quebec Card

    WBC No. 1 ranked super lightweight Amir Imam (18-0, 15 KOs) returns to face Adrian Granados (14-3-2, 9 KOs) in a 10-round bout on Saturday, Nov. 28 on Showtime Boxing on SHO Extreme.

    The undefeated Imam is the mandatory challenger to WBC 140-pound champion Viktor Postol, who won the vacant title with a 10th round TKO of Lucas Matthysse in October. (more…)

    Undefeated super welterweight Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (22-0, 15 KOs) has never forgotten where he comes from, Providence, and for the second year in a row the 27-year-old former world champion is spearheading a Turkey Drive there.

  • Manchester Veteran Arnfield Buoyant About Surprise British Title Shot

    Manchester’s Jack Arnfield is buoyant and “raring to go” ahead of his British middleweight title fight with champion Nick ‘Bang Bang’ Blackwell this Saturday, November 14 at Bristol’s City Academy.

    The 26-year-old accepted the fight with Blackwell last Friday, following the withdrawal of original opponent Elliott Matthews, and now can’t wait to finally get his hands on that coveted Lonsdale belt.

    “On Friday morning I got the phone call from Steve Wood, my manager, who told me Matthews was out and I was in,” recalled Arnfield, 19-1 (4 KOs). “I was over the moon. I was ecstatic. (more…)

  • British Champ Blackwell Gets On The Couch For Arnfield Clash

    British middleweight champion Nick Blackwell has been seeing a sports psychologist ahead of his November 14 title defence against Jack Arnfield in the hope that weekly sessions will eradicate a tendency to start slow in fights.

    Blackwell won the Lonsdale belt in May with a stunning seventh-round stoppage of John Ryder at a sold-out O2 Arena, but had to rally back from a slow start to do so. He then experienced the same kind of start in July, when successfully defending his belt with a brutal one-punch knockout of Damon Jones in Derby, and has since gone looking for answers. (more…)

  • British Olympian Andrew Selby Lines Up Second Pro Fight

    Hennessy Sports and Sanigar Events are pleased to announce that Andrew Selby, one of Great Britain’s most decorated amateur boxers, will compete in his second professional fight on November 14 at Bristol’s City Academy.

    The talented 26-year-old, younger brother of IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby, is a two-time European amateur champion and winner of bronze and silver medals at the World Amateur Championships.   • Matthews Out, Arnfield In For Blackwell Bristol British Title Clash

    British middleweight champion Nick ‘Bang Bang’ Blackwell will now defend his title against Blackpool’s Jack Arnfield, following the withdrawal of original opponent Elliott Matthews, on November 14 at Bristol’s City Academy, subject to final approval from the British Boxing Board of Control.

    Watford’s Matthews picked up a cut in sparring on Friday and Arnfield, on stand-by for a number of weeks now, was quick to fill the void and grab the chance of a lifetime. (more…)

  • Former World Champ Andrade Gets Honored At Prestigious Harvard

    Last Thursday night, undefeated super welterweight Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (22-0, 15 KOs) was honored by the Harvard Club at its annual Fight Night in Boston’s Back Bay.

    The 27-year-old Andrade, fighting out of Providence, RI is a former world super welterweight champion. The sensational southpaw was also a 2008 U.S. Olympian and the 2007 AIBA World Championships gold medalist. (more…)

  • Kennedy Confident Of Crushing Conquest In British Eliminator

    Undefeated Cardiff cruiserweight Craig ‘The Kid’ Kennedy knows that victory on November 14 in Bristol can pave the way for a British title shot in the new year, but is quick to stress he’s taking it one step at a time.

    The talented 30-year-old outscored Courtney Fry in an eliminator for the British title in June and, should he remain undefeated next weekend, can expect to meet Tony Conquest in a final eliminator for the Lonsdale belt by the end of next February. (more…)

    The main portion of the card is set for the upcoming Boston Boxing Promotions event November 28 at Barnstable High School in Hyannis, MA.

    In the main event of the evening, Northeast Heavyweight Champion and Hyannis resident Jesse Barboza (10-1-1, 6 KO’s) will meet tough Mexican veteran Francisco Mireles (17-9, 5 KO’s) in an eight-round fight.

    Another Cape Cod native in Harwich’s Paul Gonsalves will see action on the card in an eight-round light heavyweight fight. Gonsalves (8-7-1, 4 KO’s) will meet former WBC regional title challenger Jose Humberto Corral (19-19, 12 KO’s) in a bout that will serve as the co-feature of the evening. (more…)
