At 41 years young, Venezuelan fighter Liborio Solis is preparing for another world title fight and he does it with the same commitment and optimism as always.
The Maracay-born fighter will be facing Japan’s Takuma Inoue, 14 years younger, on April 18, in a fight that will have the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight (118 lbs.) title at stake.
Inoue is the second challenger in that division and Solis is ranked third.
“It’s one more challenge in my life and we face it as it comes. We’re going all out,†Solis said while completing a training session at the Pedro ‘Rockero’ Alcazar gym in Curundu, Panama City.
“I have been patient waiting for a new title opportunity, I fought for it and now it has arrivedâ€, added the former WBA super flyweight (115 lbs.) champion.
Solis who trains under former WBA super bantamweight world champion Ricardo ‘Maestrito’ Cordoba also spoke about Takuma Inoue, younger brother of Naoya Inoue.
“I know he is the brother of a great boxer. That’s all I’m interested in knowing about him. I just tell him to prepare well because I’ll be ready to give him a war,†warned the Venezuelan.
Going to the land of the Rising Sun to try to be crowned is not something that scares Solis because he has already fought in that country on three previous occasions against opponents like Kohei Kono, Daiki Kameda and Shinsuke Yamanaka.
“I am a very experienced man in big bouts and I dreamed of going to Japan again, it came to me and now I just hope to go and do the best I know how to do, which is to fight,†he confessed.
Solis will come to the fight with a professional record of 35 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw and 16 knockouts; while Inoue will be presented with a professional record of 17 wins, 1 loss and 4 knockouts.
