Greed has it's hallucinogenic effect on people, can't believe PAC's handlers allowing this to happen:(

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
If the negotiations will finally fail primarily due to Oscar taking most of the money (70-30 split, TV rights, etc).
Another reason will be that fans/boxing people not giving PAC (with all his capabilities) any chance of defeating Oscar. They see it as a total freak show.

You can associate "greed and money" on Oscar but not on Pacquiao. Do you think money is the prime motivating factor why Pacquiao is calling out and challenging Oscar? I don't think so coz a win over Oscar will elevate Pacquiao's boxing legacy in an all time high.
Defeating Oscar (tho a very difficult task for PAC) would give PAC more leverage in taking remaining bigger fights ahead.

I don't think he needs any more leverage. The way he did a number on Diaz and with his rep he could get a good deal against any lightweight or super feather. And if he cleans up at 135 he would have a good chance at 140 then

When I stated "remaining bigger fights", I mean against Hatton and probably PBF...
IF (big if) PAC can defeat DelaHoya in a more convincing way than what PBF did to Oscar, then PAC will have some leverage in calling out PBF from retirement and could probably install him as favorite against Hatton...

If he did well against Casamayor, Campbell etc then and maybe even now I think he would have a chance against Hatton but it would be one tough fight.
As for PBF, he wouldn't stand a chance

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
Regarding gloves, the rule says it's either both of them will wear 10 oz. or 8 oz. gloves. Other than that will not be sanctioned for it's against the rules.
Hmmnn both conditions favors DelaHoya...
What Team PAC wants is 8 oz. gloves on PAC and 10 oz. gloves on DelaHoya which is against the rules...

Let's see if Oscar will give in to PAC's demands and then it's clear that Oscar really wanted this fight very badly...

:lolhaha: Pacquiao wants De La Hoya for the money. Nothing else. De La Hoya is no longer the fighter he once was. Everybody knows that. If it's about legacy for Pacquiao than why doesn't he try and set up a fight with Margarito or Cotto? A win over them would mean more than a win over a past his prime De La Hoya. Why not call them out? Cuz neither brings in the dollars like De La Hoya does. That's why. Pacquiao like every fighter out there bows down to the money. Anybody that says otherwise is a fukking idiot.

Of course when you fight Oscar, money is always a major factor but I think for PAC, money is just one of the factors. PAC likes to fight legends (Barrera, Morales) and Oscar is a boxing legend. He climbed weight division after weight division chasing these legends. Fighting and defeating a legend will enhance greatly your own legacy. Margarito or Cotto? Sorry but they're not legends yet.
In terms of legacy, PAC is in a win-win situation with this fight. IF (big if) he wins, his legacy will soar in all time high and he'll probably becomes boxing's most marketable fighter after Oscar retires. If he loses, nothing much will affect his already established legacy. Only idiots will turn down a DelaHoya fight.

Stop..............just stop, there is no legacy in beating a geriatric ODLH.
PAC wins- ODLH was over the hill.
ODLH wins - PAC was too small.
There are too many excuses for a loss before this fight is even made. Do you think PBF has a legacy because he beat Oscar? NO. People are complaining because he didn't unify a division, is this starting to sound familiar?
It's about the money and nothing else there is no justification for legacy in this fight, if he would have fought the Golden Boy 3 years ago it would have mattered for something, now it's just cash.

I can't understand you people... You're unbelievable...
First you're totally writing off PAC in this fight. You're saying that PAC has NO CHANCE AT ALL of winning this fight.
Then IF (big if) PAC does the impossible and defeats Oscar, you will not give him any credit since Oscar is already "old and shot"... ;D
Oh my... I can't believeeeeeeee this...

What I can't believe is that you need 18 threads to make the same statements. C'mon man. Are you gonna say the ODLH is in his prime? Especially after the Forbes fight? I'm not a fan of either fighter, although I am entertained by both and because of you fanatics I am actually gonna root for ODLH just so I don't have to suffer any more of these threads. It's you I can't believe look up delusional in the dictionary you arguments for saying this will add to PAC's legacy is the first definition.
And yes ODLH is old and shot, his stamina sucks, his punches have slowed and his focus is much more easily swayed than ever before. All of those reasons are the only reason PAC has a chance because ODLH is NOT THE BOXER HE ONCE WAS, but because of his size I still say he wins.

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
Its a real shame when some of Pacs rabid fans and his camp feel the need to chase the ghost of Delahoya who is 2-4 (beat sturm my arse) over the last 5 years and is no where close to what he once was.
All the while Pac would do himself proud by Meeting and defeating his top fellow Champions and legit threats at his current weight zone, why follow in the shadow's after this absolute P.T Barnum-esq FARCE that will have no bearing or effect on the mass state of boxing Imo.You want a legacy,Unify a division, call out and defeat fellow Current Champs at there best in your new division!
It keeps being hyped up and brought back to "Pac is being over looked in this farce fight", when in all reality its the match up being overlooked because the majority of Boxing fans fully understand what this is and call it what it is.....B.S money grab. If either one thinks this will do anything to inhance they're respected Legacy, they and others are kidding themselves!

Good that you're giving PAC a chance :appl: (I give PAC 1% chance ;) )
Oscar not in his prime anymore that's why PAC is so brave even with the massive advantages Oscar has on him. PAC believed his Coach Roach who said that "Oscar is slow and can't pull the trigger anymore".
PAC has a very slim chance in this fight but having that shot on another boxing legend is best for PAC at this point of his boxing career since most probably PAC will hang his gloves next year.

So he's planning on extending his legacy against a guy that is slow and can't pull the trigger anymore? Hmm failing to see why this is impressive.

OK let's discuss Team PAC's "secret" plan... ;D IF (big if) PAC defeats Oscar in a more convincing way (UD will do) than what PBF did to Oscar then PAC will be in excellent position to call out PBF from retirement. Ohhh that's a very BIG fight...
But if PAC loses to Oscar then PAC will just settle on another "old and shot" boxer in Hatton next year...
BTW this "secret" plan has been laid out and discussed I believe on another thread here... ;D

The headline of the tread originally stated that the "fight was off." When you click on the thread, and read it, it became apparent that the title of the thread was completely false, and that it was just about one poster's opinion on the possibility of the fight. (the title of the thread has since been changed)
There are plenty of boxing forums where you can go to read false rumors, I always take pride in that Saddo is not one of them.

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
Hatton has not lost credibility with the LWW div. He lost as a WW to an elite fighter. What makes you think he is done? I think we could see a good fight in Paulie with him. Hatton will bring it and Paulie is a good fighter. Hatton is still the man in my eyes. People will sing a different tune after this fight.
Lazcano may have made him look bad, but he would never beat him in 50 fights.

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
But on the topic...
Pacman DLH will never happen. It's just a dream fight. I saw someone write this adn I'll repeat...
We are all REALLY waiting for DLH vs Forbes II !!!!!

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
Latest Update:
Warning: For those not interested in this fight, please read no further since it might be just a waste of your time.
- DelaHoya will fight at 147 lbs.
- DelaHoya will wear 8 oz. gloves
- Purse split the only thing not settled
Source: Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao fight nearly set
Team Pacquiao should not accept anything less than 60-40 purse split IMO...
-
Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
8 oz gloves. Damn. I almost feel sorry for Pacquiao. Almost. Soon as Oscar lands this fight is over. Oscar struggled to make 150 in his last fight. Should be a battle for him to make 147.
-
Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
A weak, slow, old and shot DelaHoya at 147 lbs. may not be able to throw a power punch enough to KO PAC... Or may not be able to land a clean punch on super fast PAC... I hope so...

:lolhaha: At 147 it won't be a super fast Pac. It will be a fat Pac
:lolhaha: at 147,
it will be a super weak, super slow and super malnourished Oscar... WOW everything in Oscar is super at 147... :lolhaha:
.
So what your saying is PAC wins it against a "super weak, super slow and super malnourished Oscar" well that solidifies the fact that
1) this fight proves nothing
2) is only for cash.

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
Latest word on the streets of LA (hold it, this is not official yet)...
"It's a done deal... Both parties agreed on a 65-35 purse split..."
I think once this fight is signed and delivered, it will be the primetime boxing news from now until December...

Well Oscar is still "super big, super tall and super reach"... It only even things up... That's what makes this fight very intriguing....
This match is very unique; and because of that uniqueness, boxing fans around the world will want to watch this fight...

Yep 8 oz. gloves has devastating results at welter... Did you know Cotto and Margarito were using 8 oz. gloves in their recent fight?

If you're really that interested, you can go to Germany on August 30, 2008 in order to see the Nikolay Valuev vs. John Ruiz Rematch Fight at ringside...
To give you some insights, below is a photo from the first fight between the two... I guess it's a bit competitive... ;D

Re: DelaHoya-Pacquiao Split Negotiations and Purse Talk!
70-30 purse split is not acceptable to Pacquiao. I'm not sure if one party will make a compromise and meet in the middle...
