Who the fuck has Palik fought apart from Taylor??
Lets see Miranda who i put on the same level as Andrade who Kessler fought, Kessler has fought Three different World Champions, Pavlik has fought one. So i dont understand where you get this Kessler has not got the experience of Pavlik? I think you need to go do a bit more research.

Serious your knowledge is poor of the 168 divison if you think Lacy is a notable fighter in the division, the 168 division right now has some great fighters who would smash Lacy to pieces Bute, Froch to name two would take Lacy out. Taylor also ducked Froch.
Im sorry but to me your one of the fans who dismisses anything that hasnt been on mainstream Us television Hbo/Showtime.

Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
man 168 is a bum ass division in my eyes carl froch is a nobody everybody knows lacy im not sayin i like lacy actually i dont like anybody at 168 dude that division sucks so bad calzaghe left it to fight at lightheavy now prove me wrong:o

168lbs is one of the deepest in boxing today.
And Pavlik after seeing him a 166 would be top 5 no more until he wins a few.

I think that 168 division has one of the best up and coming fighters in the world today in Daniel Jacobs!

What its a dumbass division because you dont know anyone? Come on you said in your previous statement Lacy is one of the better fighters, now you saying you only mentioned him becasue people know him, to be honest i think your the only dumbass round here.
Calzaghe left because he wanted the money fights and at this stage they are at 175.

Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
i never said lacy was a good fighter loser i said he was a noticable SMW and get off my thread its for pavlik fans;D
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
Wow!:o
What the hell happened while I was gone?!?!
How can anyone call 168 a shit division... Go look at Jr Middleweight if you want to see virtually no depth...
168 has become one of my favorite divisions behind some of the little guys, light and welterwight divs...
SMW has emmense depth and skill.
Mikkel Kessler
Mundine
Taylor
Froch
Lacy
Andrade
Bika
Tsypko
Manfredo
Green
Dirrel
Mirranda
Pascal
Ward
and you still have...
Bute
Beyer
Codrington
Mendy
Henshaw
Banks
Buchanan
C'mon dude!
This is one of the toughest and most competetive divs in boxing today...

LOL, I'm a huge Pav fan! He's my profile pic.
I believe him to quickly becoming the centerpiece of American boxing but that's not to say I won't give my oppinion otherwise.
Kelly's not a world beater or ender.
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
Well i think Pavlik beating Taylor is better then anything Kessler has done. Lets not for get the man who out classed Kessler had a way more difficult time then Taylor did with Hopkins and that was a older version of Hopkins. Also look at what Kessler been up not much of anything so i dont think much of him

I totally agree Pride, great entertaining fighter, i like the guy. I got in on this debate with the thread starter because he says Kessler hasnt got the experience of Pavlik? Which i just thought was a bizzare statement.

Mmmm... Can't say you're out of the ballpark at all.
I will say that had Kess been able to keep his foot on the peddle and stayed focused he could have mad it pretty controversial.
I know we could say "what if" to any fight...
...but regardless, I had Kess and Joe pretty much even going into the 6th.
Joe C showed his class in that fight totally blowing up his spot down the stretch. His stamina has always impressed the hell out of me.
...especially the Lacy fight... Never let up.

When a fighter comes of a defeat they usually take a step back and come back slowly unless they go staright back into a rematch, i respect your opinion and of course Pavlik knocking out the then Middleweight champion is better than anything Kessler has done in terms of victorys.
You say that Calzaghe had alot more trouble than Taylor did?? How exactly i think you will find alot more people thought Hopkins beat Taylor than beating Calzaghe.
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
Well i thought the first fight was Taylors the second fight was a mess.

This is a great point... I thought that Hop won the first outing against Taylor... By an extremely thin margin but I thought he pulled it out.
I def had Joe beating Hop. Not by a whole lot but nontheless...
Good point, Skel

Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
Well to me alot of people underate Taylor because of the people he faced. Look Taylor beats Hopkins twice i thought he did enough for the wins but with Hopkins its always a close fight going eithe way. Then he fights Winky i had no problem with the draw close fight yet again its Winky another one to look good against is almost it not going to happen. Then the same goes with Spinks. Then he choose to fight Pavlik twice which he did not have to do and alot of people would not have.
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
yes kessler is still not fighting competition look at how hes fighting next Danilo Haussler now who the hell is that y dont he fight taylor or lacy or green hell anybody else he is taking a step back while kelly is actually fighting a top 10 fighter in the world which which lead to better fights as of kessler his career is going nowhere
-

Kesslers career is going nowhere? Please!! The guy is 10 months after being beaton by a top fighter, hes getting himself back, HBO still very much backing him, within next 12 months you will see him in a super fight.
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
well we will see about that but as of the present kelly is fighting a legend and kessler is fighting a guy very few people know so cant nobody determine kesslers next opponent
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
Kessler has yet to impress me since Calzaghe..... BUT i think he takes Pavlik apart in a war.
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
that would be a great fight for both of them cause both of them are prime but if does happen kelly takes it especially after fighting hopkins will gain him alot of experience so he will know how to handle kessler. this fight does need to happen though

Wether he beats Hopkins or not it will not aid him against Kessler. Pavlik is a brawler if he was to box Kessler he wouldnt win a round.
If i was a Pavlik fan id worry about hopkins its 10rds at a new weight. Ok Calzaghe won in a career worst display but Kelly does have Joes footwork or speed the only two things that have troubled Hopkins.
Im willing to bet that after the 10rds b4 the dec you will be turding it.
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
its not 10 its 12 i checked it at top rank and it is for 12 rounds i dont think they will sell a ppv for 10rnds and as for hopkins winning i dont see it happening and i like hopkins but he will slow down in the 5th 6th or 7th round and will clinch alot which the judges will not like so kelly will win this fight either way by ko or ud and dont forget hes fighting a young guy and the last youngster he fought he lost to twice and hes fighting the guy who beat him twice badly:-X

Pavlik beat Taylor twice and Taylor got two wins over Hopkins so that means Pavlik will beat Hopkins right ?
If that was the case then Tarver beat Jones and Jones beat Hopkins so that means Tarver beat Hopkins..... oh wait.:o
Styles make fights. ;)
-
Re: Can Kelly Pavlik do damage at 175?
yes styles make fights and hopkins style is to throw about 20-30 punches a round and kelly throws about twice that amount maybe more and are harder punches compared to anybody hopkins has ever faced eventually those hard ass punches will where him down especially after the first few rounds just admit it its over for hopkins
-

This fight is at 170lbs Pavlik will not be the same puncher he was at 160. Calzaghe throws more shots than Pavlik with greater speed and different angles. Hopkins made the fight close he will make this fight close also.
Infact Pavliks straight foward style and lack of punch variation plays into Hopkins.

Hopkins lacks workrate but what he lacks in workrate he brings in brilliant accuracy and timing with his shots and he also works well on the inside and frustrates his opponents with his sneaky blows on the inside. Hopkins tough defense and lateral movement will cause pavlik problems, Pavlik won't have his jab to set up his shots because Hopkins will take it away just like he did to Wright and Pavlik will find himself eating right hand counters and missing his shots and will get more frustrated with Hopkins work on the inside. Hopkins even at 43 still has what it takes to beat Pavlik and your making the mistake thinking he can't.

Good post. I just made a post on another thread about fighters considered to be old (due to their physical age) but experience is an amazing advantage againsed younger guys, Hopkins may well frustrate a young Pavlic into making silly mistakes and losing rounds for it. I think I've said that before in another recent thread (sorry bout that) but I can see that happening.
