I had this whole example of why this statement proves nothing written out and ready to click "reply" but then I realized that it wouldn't change anything. Some people just don't have logic...

I think Freddie is either punch drunk or on the pipe. I really hope for a good fight.

Oscar De La Hoya hits a bag during an open workout at his boxing training camp Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, in Big Bear, Calif. De La Hoya is preparing for his fight against Manny Pacquiao on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas.
Some of the media people noticed a bluish discoloration (black eye?) under Hoya's right eye... This could be what triggered the "Ortiz mauling Hoya" rumour...

Hoya also looks already dried up...

ESPN says De La Hoya is already weighing 145

It looks like it . I expect him to be majorly weight drained. Jones showed that moving down 2 weights can effect you bad . Lets see how it effects Oscar

I knocked the mitts off my trainers hands as well, so that must mean I hit harder than ODLH as well. Plus, not to be a dick here, but with Roach's condition won't everything feel like it's hitting him harder now, and have a harder time holding on to the mitts?

I can tell you from experience that there is a hell of alot difference. ODLH's natural weight is easily 160+ pounds, and its physically impossible for little Manny Pacquiao to hit harder than ODLH. Especially since ODLH's core strength is a big advantage.
And if anyone actually believes Manny Pacquiao hits harder than a man, who is naturally easily 15 pounds heavier than him. Then you need to be whipped round to the nearest doctor because your a danger to society.
A bullet is only weighs an oz but it's enough to kill a 200lbs man. Why ?? Because of Velocity. Pac's punch maybe 10 lbs lighter but it travel much faster than DLHs. The faster a punch travels the harder it lands. This is Basic Physics.
This is an absurd comparison, it is not just velocity, but also because the energy of the blast is focused in a very small area. Not only is PACs punch lighter, but the area of impact will be roughly the same once they get the gloves on. Without having the Ivan Drago punch counter machine measuring pounds per inch of force you have no basis for this argument other than "Roach said so."
Dammit I did it again I can't believe I fell for responding to another one of these damn SADDOBOXER-WANTS-PACS-JOCKSTRAP advertisement threads.

I think people reply to these threads to try to have the funniest comment on how to talk about how ridiculous the statement is.
BY THE WAY! THIS JUST IN! Roach claims Pacquiao's chin will be able to take more damage because Manny decided to grow his goatee out!!!

PAC knocking out Roach's mitts did not happened on this training camp only... As I've pointed out, it happened many times in the past like when PAC trained for JMM and David Diaz... So you mean Roach and PAC were just acting all these times to generate the hype? I don't think so... Hype isn't in PAC's vocabulary as proven in his fight results...

Re: Manny Pacquiao hits much harder than Hoya?
damn how this get over 50 posts:confused:
everybody should know that pac doesnt harder than ODLH especially at 147. hell dont worry abut pacs power. pac fans should worry about his speed. cause he didnt look that fast at 135 so adding 12 more pounds will slow him down even more.

It's called "hyping a fight" bro. It's his very own fighter, how in the world would someone say something negative about his very own fighter? It just doesn't make sense. So Freddie Roach can go ahead and say his hands end up all numb after working with Pac, sure, let's sell the fight!
Wouldn’t all Mike Tyson trainers say the same? Here we have a heavyweight with dynamite in his punches and I don't remember hearing trainers cry like Freddie Roach because Tyson was hitting those mitts with all his might or are you going to tell me Pac hits harder than Tyson?

Normally you won't say anything negative about your own boxer. The trainer well keep all those negatives in the closet. That's the normal thing. So it's very surprising Roach was saying all these negatives about Hoya (his own boxer at one time)...
This could be hyping but PAC doesn't live on hypes, he do his business inside the ring and it's proven by his fight results...
BTW, I don't think Roach is that delusional to claim that PAC hits harder than Tyson... unless if that's what he felt from the punches of the two boxers...

In fact some might recall, Freddie has actually held the mitts for Tyson on a training camp... He said that he had some serious power, BUT, he never reported having the mitts knocked completely off his hands... So i'm with Saddoboxer. That not only proves Pac's "knocking-mitts-off-the-hands-power" is more than Oscars, but possibly more than Tyson's as well..
Arguements over..

Dude have you ever hit mitts before? It's actually very common for them to come off. Do you even realize how ridiculous your statements are?
Do you think is Roach is going to say "ODLH is much stronger than PAC, I expect the guy who is currently responsible for my salary to get knocked the fuck out."?

Re: Manny Pacquiao hits much harder than Hoya?
Oscar send note to Manny!
Oscar De La Hoya sent a personal message to Manny Pacquiao this week. While autographing boxing gloves for the 'Dream Match' promotion, Pacman rooted deep into a large cardboard box and spotted a red glove signed in black sharpie by Oscar.
MANNY
I AM GOING TO KNOCK YOU OUT!
OSCAR
Oscar added a little smiley face.
Pacquiao looked at it, laughed and shrugged it off. "He is a great fighter, the Golden Boy," said Pacquiao. "I have been watching him since he won the gold medal at the Olympic Games. He has beaten very famous fighters. That's why defeating him will be very special and important for everyone in the Philippines."

Want to get out of the heat? Go ahead the door is wide open...
I'm just responding to your previous statement about trainer's salary... ;)
Of course, flying mitts is just an illustration... Numbed, aching and injured hands and body of the trainer are the true manifestations of the boxer's power as assessed by the trainer...

If it's your opinion that Roach said these things ("PAC hits much harder than Hoya") because of his deteriorating Parkinsons disease then I respect that... That's your own personal opinion...
We will see on December 6 ...

Let's look at the facts then
Roach's Parkinsons is worse than last year, it's the way the disease works. Because of this the impact of PAC's punches will feel much greater than in the past.
Roach's salary IS contingent on PAC so to say anything that would give PAC doubt would endanger his own money.
Mitts flying off hands are a very common occurance and should not be considered a indicator of power.
Care to add anything?

1) Probably...
2) Roach already said he won't have any salary for this fight if PAC loses...
3) I already mentioned the actual indications of boxers' power in the perspective of the trainer (see my previous post)

Agree... but as I've said before, the hype won't matter to PAC... He's not a hype person... PAC's proven record and his acceptance of the fight is enough for me to have faith in his chances against Hoya... It's PAC who will fight Hoya inside the ring...
