Then ask yourself this: if it had been Mayweather v. Mosley, Pacquiao v. Mosley or Hatton v. Mosley, would this be on PPV?

Is it a foregone conclusion?
Can Mosley box and move at a pace that can win him the rounds while keeping Margarito at bay?
Margarito is pretty one-dimensional but Mosley is growing old and always seems small.
I'm backing Margarito but think he has to spend a fair few rounds following Mosley.
No doubt, early on I could not stand Young Mosley, wearing his little leopard trunks and that big toothy smile in the Philip Holiday fight.....Now I have the utmost respect for Him.Have come to like him a lot, tons of class and a fighters mentality.
I really think he is going to "fight" Margarito, sit with him in spots on the inside.I think he is going to go for it all in this one but Margarito will get him on his heels late and over whelm him with volume and physicality,Very much to turn into a bodyshot contest between them. Two heads made of granite:fight:
Mosley has never been a huge draw. That said, Margarito doesn't have the earning potential of Hatton, PBF or Paquiao. But, he has more earning potential than a lot of fighters out there - more than most welterweights. Also, it is safe to say that among Latin Americans in the greater Los Angeles area, Margarito has a strong and growing fanbase.
Moreover, it is impressive that in such depressing economic times, a Margarito fight sold out the Staples Center. Am I wrong to say that? Boxing definitely ain't dead...
Thought I'd through this in the mix Compubox statistical analysis
HBO: Boxing: WCB: Margarito vs. Mosley: RUNNING THE NUMBERS WITH COMPUBOX
"Out of respect for Mosley's proven durability, the prediction will be a comfortable unanimous decision for Margarito but if anyone has the tools to inflict the first stoppage loss on Mosley it is the "Tijuana Tornado." "
- Compubox 2009 Bob Canobbio
does anybody know exactly what time the 2 fighters walk in?
HBO.com: Video Player: Margarito vs. Mosley: Fight Week
Weigh in coverage.
Jerry Belmontes 128.5 vs. Jesus Hernandez 127.5 both overweight.
Brian Ramirez 130.5 underweight vs. Luis Tapia 135 Overweight? Announced as a 134 fight must be some kind of catchweight. Tapia has one hour to lose one pound or forfeit, Tapia is going to pay a fine to still go on with the fight.
Shane Mosley 147.0 vs. Antonio Margarito 145.8
Sugar Shane comes in at 147.2 and needs to be weighed again, they are saying there were too many people on stage.
Margarito says that he trained hard to make sure he is at weight well before the weighin and that Mosley's weight is his problem.
He said that he understands Mosley has a lot of experience and that's why he's trained hard.
The official watching the scale says that, for the title to be on the line for Sugar he needs to lose 0.2 pounds within the next hour.
Ok Sugar steps back on the scale and makes 147. WBA title is officially on the line.
Shane says he's ready to go, he says all he wants is the fans respect and concedes Margarito is a great champ.
That's not a good sign for Shane.
I took flier on Shane by SD in the prediction contest. It's just hard for me to bet against him. Everytime I think he's done, he puts on a great performance.
I think there is a chance that Shane's faster hands, toughness, and experience could let him steal this one. A very small chance. If Tony comes in and gives away a few rounds early, which he often does, he's going to give Shane a chance to be in the fight. Shane has never been stopped and he is known for his chin. Cotto beat Shane essentially by turning boxer and using his better jab in the last few rounds to control the fight. Shane isn't going to outbox Margo, but he still has faster hands than Cotto and he probably hits just as hard, if not harder. Also, Mosley doesn't lean forward as far as Cotto, and this body position make him vulnerable to Tony's best punches - his uppercuts. Shane is more upright and he's less likely to eat those punches. Cotto was actually a very good matchup for Tony. Shane, on the other hand, has only lost to fighters with very good jabs - Winky, Forrest, and Cotto.
I actually thought that Mayorga deserved a lot of credit in the Mosley fight. He fought as well as I've seen him fight in a very long time and for a change, he was properly conditioned for the bout, but once Shane figured him out and realized he could take his punches, he took over the fight.
Unfortunately for Shane, he can't spend the first few rounds trying to figure out Tony and decide if he can be hurt by him. He's going to need come out guns blazing and risk getting hurt early. If he starts slow and lets Tony get into his rhythm, it's a wrap.
With all the shit fights that has been on PPV I can't believe this one is on HBO.
GBP is also promoting the Affliction PPV.
gotta bit worried there when mosley went in 2pound over but good to see him making the weight and its sure to be a great sign off to an excellent career tommorow!!
Margarito all the way for me. Yes Shane pushed Cotto close, but there was a point around the 7/8th where he looked and done and Cotto let him back in the fight, something Marg won't do if he's in half the condition he was in last summer.
I pick Mosely just because i enjoy parody. The only way he can win, I think is to dance and keep a jab in Margo face- every round he tries to stand toe-to-toe he'll lose.
But Hell, I thought Cotto would beat Margo too. I'm just glad this fight is happening and it's on HBO and not PPV.
Good post.Agreed ecspecially on Mosley needing to come out early and strong.Going against all logic myself....I think He needs to jump on Tony, this fight is as much mental as physical and he needs to get into Margaritos frame of mind from the very start.I think Margarito will have some big effect on Mosley to the body but he really can not over due those long shots from the outside....uppercuts mainly, keep it close and tight, weary of Mosley clinching.Shane is not what he was,but he can still capitalize with a fast hard rights/left hook to inviting targets.I like Tony very late or by w.12
Exactly. Paul Williams took Tony out of his game by jumping on him early with volume. For all of Paul's size and reach, it didn't really factor against Tony. Paul just jumped on him from the start and didn't let up. If Mosley is consistently strafing Margarito with rights and sharp hooks from the start, he has a chance to stop him from getting into his "terminator" mode where he just becomes an attack machine that cannot be stopped by anything short of a high yield nuke.
Margarito TKO 12
Never count Mosely out... That guy has a natural armor to him, Shane is as solid as Margarito with the durability in chin dept
Im rooting for Mosely, but its just one of them fights. You just hope he can pull it off.
i chose shane to win also woring with nazim richardson imo the best trainer in the world
Seeing as there is no rd. by rd. up thought I'd pin this one up and have it for those who will be here tonight during the fight.
I'm taking Margarito by points in a close fight.
I'm with you on this one.
You can NEVER count on old Lion out like SSM.
The guy has taken good care of himself and he's always in shape to fight
(Please don't give me the .2 lb talk OK it's .2 not 20.00  )
I think fighters like him always have a chance because they've seen it all.
Lost to Vernon cameback and won, lost to Winkus cameback and won.
If Mosley is lucky Margo comes out hot and looking for a ko, Shane can handle that easier early on and may catch him commming forwards .
Which would make the end game a more even match more interesting for us.
Either way Margo wins it. Maybe even retires him if its eventually played out in a blood war.
I think Margo wins on points. Too relentless for Shane.
I would like to see Mosley win, but I don't think he will.
Mosley has too many outside issues going on, with HBO saying that they are going to be bringing up the steriod issue, and his marriage is extremely bad right now from what I've read. Jin won't even be at the fight. So I don't know what kind of mental state Mosley is in right now.
Mosley may come in with the perfect game plan, but I'm not sure how mentally focused he will be to carry it out.
So I'm going with Margarito by late stoppage.
Well guess whos motherf!!!!g craptop is having a s!!!fit ?I might just miss this one,on here with my Saddo brothren,...my sanctuary;D;D.I'll be seeing in on the Tellie but everything else is Fubar right now.Running to work if this one go's....minute by minute :furious2::puncher:.
I can not wait for this fight.I am no fanboy ignoring reaity and have thought long and hard on this one.Against Cotto I was 99.5% sure Tony would take him out (With respect,Cotto is not done).......Shane on the other hand and in my opinion is a VERY live underdog.Mass experience,Fighting at a higher weight for sometime,Still has the fast hands with much pop,Tenacity,Chin, exp.I do belive Margarito will come on strong for a victory BUT I can see a scenario in which Shane stuns him very early :o.I think Shane needs to assert himself, step inside of Tonys range and go for the gusto.Enevitably.....I see Margaritos volume, body shots and sheer pressure backing Shane off on his heels leading to a Descision win but this is no freebie.Mass respect to both, they will know that they have both been in a battle come Sunday A.M :fight: Tonight,My sig rules;D:drunks:
This is going to be a really entertaining fight, I think that Margarito will win a UD. Mosley's experience is going to make this one interesting, he knows that he will have to use his speed and ring craft to try and outboxing Margarito. If he can do that I feel that he will cause problems for Margarito early on in the fight and I wouldnt be surprised that he wins the first 4-5 rounds. When Margartio hits his high punch rate output with his relentless pressure this is where we will see if age has hit Mosley.
Margarito has a really tough fight tonight, but after the Mayorga fight Mosley has shown that age is catching up with him and he didnt seem to have a good enough workrate. This is where I think Margarito is going to do his damage and I think hes going to take a UD. Margaritos power may not be as much as Mayorgas but his work ethic with combinations to the head and body is what Mosley will find hardest to deal with.
Im looking forward to this fight and im staying up for it. Margarito will win this and I hope he moves on to much more memorable fights in 09
3am UK time on setanta sports I think it is, see you then ;D
I have come to enjoy Margarito this past year and he is one of my top 5 fighters. I get this nawing feeling that Shane is going to do something special tonite.
He has a 1in advantage in reach over Marg and will probably be the heavier of the 2 come the fight.. Shane looked in absolute spectacular shape, not drained, not tired looking.
Mosely can take a shot just as good as Margo and like I mentioned already, Shane seems to have this invisible armor that he wears in the ring, I just see him able to absorb margo's shots, counter with sharp- stiff punches that Slow Tony down enough for Shane to work at his own pace. I see Tony being dropped and losing a SD.
Shane has shown time and again that he does have 1 punch power as well as accumulative.. Mosely is more durable than Cotto and wont wilt, he'll stand his own just fine.
I just feel that Tony cant keep up that volume and take shots his whole career, that chins going to start showing some dents, and a guy like Mosely can certainly leave his mark
I just worry about the Flack Tony will catch if he loses:-\
Margarito to stop him in 10 tonight. Hope I'm wrong because I like Shane alot, he's one of the nice guys of the sport but honestly, he looked horrible against Mayorga. Apart from the last round masterclass I thought he allowed himself to look foolish at times because he legs wouldn't move like they used to. Against a guy with Tony's workrate, I see it costing him as his legs are gunna have to work very hard tonight.
I've never been a huge Mosley fan but I've just gotta say this:
GO SUGARMAN GO!!!
Anyone doing a RBR? I can do one if anyone would like.
Genuinely excited about this one.
I got Margarito in 8 unless Shane holds on for dear life for 12 rounds.
I ain't doing no rbr. I can't watch the fight, do drugs and type at the same time.
Young and strong lion wins.
Margo by TKO.
What are we drinking on :fight: Got's Bacardi
Anyone know who the ref is ???
