It's long but no way to tell from the picture how deep it is...;) BTW, I didn't read in the RBR thread your post calling to stop the fight... Or did I miss it?? ... ;)

Oh, come on now he has an Aladdin Sane lightning bolt down the side of his head! It's a monster cut to have, and even if we cannot specify it's depth we can see how long it is and remember how it was spurting and gushing. It's a horrible cut, I don't think it needs debating.
I don't recall posting at all on the RBR during the fight. I was too busy actually watching it. I posted prior to it starting and afterwards, not at all while the fight was actually happening though. Just because I did not jump into the RBR does not mean I didn't think it should have been stopped. Personally, I would have had it stopped in the second and definitely the doctor should have disallowed Marco to continue in the fourth.
Re: Should the Khan/Barrera fight have been called a no contest?
It was a bad cut, a very bad cut that had no signs of being able to stop the blood between rounds and it was a no brainer that the fight had to be stopped.
But why the hell do these cutsmen insist on getting that face iron out to rub down any bumps when what is clearly needed for a cut that bad is 45odd seconds of constant pressure with a towel followed by 15 applying vaseline to aid the wound!
simple really

Many believed it's Marco's warrior attitude that prevented him from saying "I can't see anymore" or "I'm having headache"... Just last week, many also labeled Robert Guerrero a quitter for pulling out from his fight with Yordan in the 2nd round after he suffered a cut that resulted the fight as a no contest (NC)... Would you be upset if Barrera quit after the 1st round?? Would you call him a quitter??

Re: Should the Khan/Barrera fight have been called a no contest?
Cut or not, the fight was a NO CONTEST.
Seeing how bad MAB did against a complete NOBODY vs Freudis Rojas
Freudis Rojas
What did team Barrera expect?
I give them kudos for trying to fight on but Con was just too fast for the old warrior. MAB never belonged in the same weight class as Con. The fight proved nothing and Con needs to prove himself against Prescott again, we don't need to look any further than Prescott. I see Con getting knocked out again soon unless he continues to fight old guys who have been way past their prime or he continues to fight nobodys but they are trying to build a world champion so he is going to have to step it up in the next couple of years.

I would have been dissapointed for the fight to end like that, but that is the worst cut I have seen in recent memory. If Barrera immediately agreed to a rematch upon the fight being declared a NC then Barrera wouldn't be labelled a quitter. I recall the Guerrero cut being less serious than this was.
Barrera is too much of a warrior and his corner should have been forcing him to stop. Mistakes were made out there, and Khan now has the scalp of MAB on his record because of it.

There you go, Guerrero's cut is less serious but he quit...
Barrera decided to fight on despite a very serious cut and lost by technical decision...
During the course of the fight, do you have any inkling that Barrera might land that one big punch that can turn the fight around??

It isn't up to him

Barrera should have quit, but I'm not the guy in Barrera's head controlling his thought mechanisms. He must have known he was down on the cards and his performance was seriously hindered by the injury. Really the 4th when he saw the doctor should have been the time to give it a rest.
I think without the cut Barrera would have tested Khan a lot more and probably knocked him out. I always said Khan would start fast and that Barrera would take a few rounds to adjust to Khans speed. The cut made even doing that nigh on impossible.

Aside from the warrior attitude, what's your assessment why Barrera continued to fight on?? Isn't it Barrera thinking of winning the fight, right??

I don't know. I would love to find out what the doctor said to Barrera and what Barrera said back to him. There was no need to carry on with such a disadvantage.
Re: Should the Khan/Barrera fight have been called a no contest?
they all think they can win. I'm sure Nicky Cook after getting knocked down twice and getting up on shaky legs thought he could win. Thats why the corner is there, the ref is there and the doctor is there.

IMO, Barrera decided to fight on thinking of winning the fight by shatering Amir's glass jaw... What's the purpose of continuing to fight is definitely to eventually win the fight... I still have to met a boxer who decided to fight on just to achieve a draw or worst, to get a loss...

Do they generally try to let it go long enough to get a scorecard outcome? As I said im not really up on no contest rules etc so ive not formed a concrete opinion.
It was a no contest from the first bell.
