Desire could be the issue I suppose.
The only hope for Pac to regain desire and come into a fight anywhere near as sharp as he used to be is to give him a fight he wants. This is the only fight he has reason to fight.
In most other circumstances, I say yes, a fighter would need a couple more fights to get back up there. But I think one fight to knock off some ring rust is enough for Pac and is best for him.
His level of fights in the tank is running low. The sooner the better for Pac. Taking another fight or two would only do harm for Pac.
So the logic is give Pac the Mayweather fight because he's washed up and could keel over any second and we don't know how many fights he has left? That if given a huge megafight he MIGHT decide to take it seriously and give us a good fight?
What's the point? As the #1 p4p, Floyd should be made to fight only the top fighters in the sport. Why would we want to see him vs a washed up Pac?
Jeez, way to sell me on the fight ;D

Just like every other fight Floyd has taken in the past 5 years, Floyd should be criticized if its not Pac.
Bradley deserves it more than anyone. He's legit top 3 p4p and he's at the top of Floyd division.
I don't know how anyone could argue Pac over Bradley, when Bradley is higher ranked than Pac at this point and is coming off a win over a fellow top p4p fighter.
The way I argue Pac over Bradley is Bradley should come after Pac. And they both cant fight Bradley.
Give Bradley the winner. If the winner retires then who cares we got to see the Pac vs PBF fight.
He already has a W over Pac and if Floyd keeps at it then there will eventually be a top contender that will miss out on a Floyd fight because he retires so why cant it be Bradley.

There is way more to it than that.
At the rate we are going in boxing, if this blockbuster fight doesnt happen we may never see another blockbuster fight.
This is the fight that can define an era of boxing and regardless of who who washed up I think they should fight at least twice.
Dont get me wrong I definately see where your coming from but this fight needs to happen and the sooner the better for both fighters.
Re: Pacquiao calls Mayweather coward for refusing to fight
One blockbuster fight is not going to "save boxing".
It could be argued that its the superfight that ruins boxing. It stifles smaller possibly more exciting fights. It makes fighters and promoters hold out for the big fights and it kills the competitiveness of entire divisions. Fighters and promoters don't want fights where they could be beat because it may cost them that one big super mega blockbuster fight.

Losses shouldn't mean shit to boxing nerds if a great fight can be made.
I want to see Pac/Mayweather as bad as anyone else, but I want to see it when it makes sense, WHEN THERE ARE NO EXCUSES.
If PBF/Pac happens now, and PBF beats his ass, this forum will be jammed with outrage. "COWARDLY MAYWEATHER DID IT AGAIN!!! HE DUCKED AND DODGED PAC AND WAITED UNTIL HE WAS WASHED UP TO FIGHT HIM!!! THIS DOESN'T MEAN SHIT!!! PAC WOULD HAVE KO'D HIM IF THEY FOUGHT IN 2010 LIKE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO!!!"
People will bring up the same stuff I'm bringing up now. "BEATING BRANDON RIOS DIDN'T PROVE PAC STILL HAD IT!!! HE WAS A HAND PICKED PATSY AND WASN'T EVEN A REAL WW!!! FUCK MAYWEATHER THE COWARD HE KNEW PAC DIDN'T HAVE IT ANYMORE!!"
So I'm saying let Pac prove to the world he's still the man, that he still has the goods, and that he can still get the job done vs Mayweather at WW. Let him fight a top WW guy, whether that's a rematch vs Bradley or a bout with a guy like Keith Thurman, and let him beat them convincingly. Then when Pac and Mayweather fight, there are no excuses. Nobody can say Pac is washed up or didn't have it anymore.
Like it or not, there are still serious questions about Pac. He got KTFO so bad his friends, family, trainer and countrymen were talking retirement. And he hasn't had a KO/TKO since Cotto, which was almost 5 years ago, which is strange considering Pac is supposed to be the best finisher/most dangerous guy in boxing.
Fight a real WW and put to rest any thoughts that you're washed up or that you should retire. Then we can see Pac vs Mayweather.
And someone please tell me that beating Brandon Rios proves he still has it, so I can laugh at you.
You don't want people making excuses? Good luck with that.
There are plenty of muppets, just on this small nerds forum alone, that rip apart Floyd, Pac and every other great fighter that's ever lived on a daily basis. If they fought when they should have, a few years ago, there would currently be a million excuse threads explaining why the loser lost.

Good points, tho I dont think this fight could ruin boxing. It could be a disappointment but it wouldnt ruin boxing.
If this blockbuster fight could ruin boxing it could be argued that any blockbuster fight that Floyd fights in could have similar effects because, lets face it, Floyds style doesnt make for crowd pleasing fights.
The faster the fighter is and the more punches a fighter throws, the more Floyd seems to shut down. Take the ODLH fight for example. Floyd is lucky he didnt lose this fight due to punch output alone. Oscar brought it to him the best he could and Floyd showed masterful defense yes, but Floyd is the only fighter ive ever seen win fights on defense alone. And its not crowd pleasing.
Re: Pacquiao calls Mayweather coward for refusing to fight
Who are we kidding if the fight is signed we would all watch.

Oh, there'll be excuses no matter what happens. There would have been excuses made even if PBF beat Pac in 2010. There are people on this very board who don't think PBF is in the top 30 of all time, so nothing really surprises me when it comes to the Floyd hate.
It's all about getting rid of the "plausible deniability." If Pac lost to Floyd tomorrow, you could plausibly say that Pac is washed up, because beating Rios really didn't prove anything.
If Pac whips Bradley's ass and then loses to Floyd and you say it's because he's washed up, you're just talking shit.

Every Floyd hater and Pac fan would say Pac is washed up if he loses that fight no matter what. And really it wouldnt be just talking shit to say that imo.
Pac already beat Bradley pretty convencingly and looked pretty lackluster in doing so. If Pac and Floyd fought right after that and Pac lost people would definately let it be known how off he looked against Bradley.
Sure if Pac fought Bradley again and smashed him it could make the fight a tad more interesting for the hardcore fans but its not a guarentee Pac smashes him. Its likely the fight plays out similar to the first fight and that would leave us in basically the same spot we already in.
Honeslty imo, the fight is more interesting if its Pac's very next fight. I dont think Pac can afford to take any more fights out of his tank.
Pac is not going to get any better, hes only getting older, slower, losing more desire with each fight and etc. He already had a fight to knock the rust off. Considering he doesnt take another lay off, every fight from here on out just takes more out of the tank.
Re: Pacquiao calls Mayweather coward for refusing to fight
Pacquiao is a bit past his prime, but he clearly ain't "all washed-up", you lil $#!t-snap you!
Re: Pacquiao calls Mayweather coward for refusing to fight
If this fight happens it's thanks to the IRS, They deserve all the credit for it happening. Without them it doesn't happen. Saying you want the fight and actually wantng the fight are 2 different things. Pac has never wanted the Floyd fight. Him claiming he did was just that. Him claiming it. There was no truth behind. If he really wanted the fight he would of took the blood tests the first time. Or took the career high 40 million the second time. But he didn't. Cuz he didn't want it than. Does he want it now? No. But he wants the paycheck that comes with it. He was able to say no before cuz he was eating lobster and German Shepherds every day. Now that he and Bobby gotta combined there money just to get a combo from McDonalds he can't afford to say no

Skip Bayless - "Did Floyd DUCK Manny Pacquiao?"
50 Cent - "Yes. That's a 100 million dollars, and he just left it. At this point, it's more him sorting out who's the perfect opponent than him fighting the toughest fighter to fight."
Stephen A. Smith (longtime die-hard Floyd-supporter), ESPN. - "I'm saying because of the Manny Pacquiao I saw yesterday, I have to believe that Floyd is DUCKING."
floyd mayweather sr. - "My son fighting that little man, I'm concerned about my son's life."
Tim Bradley - "Floyd doubts himself. Why won't he fight Manny? Scared, man. He don't wanna fight that. Floyd don't wanna fight that. He don't wanna see Manny in the ring."
Mike Tyson - "Hey listen, he doesn't want to fight the guy, it's obvious. I don't know if he's scared of him or not, but he just obviously doesn't want to fight the guy."
Larry Holmes - "Pacquiao did all he can. He did all I would have done. I think Mayweather just got a little too scared if you ask me. If he thinks Pacquiao is taking drugs so what, he should just say: ‘You take it, you kill yourself that isn't going to help you, because with my talent and ability I believe I can still beat you.' But he was scared to take that challenge. If they never fight it won’t be Pacquiao's fault. Every time they came round to fighting, Mayweather put his excuses in."
Floyd Mayweather JR - "My health is more important than money. They can take all the money, my health is more important."

50 Cent - No bias here, I'm sure
Stephen A. Smith - Floyd and Pac are about the only 2 names he knows in boxing
Floyd mayweather sr. - He's concearn about his sons dogs life. Think it'll end up in a sandwich if they ever fight
Tim Bradley - He seriously thinks he beat Pac. Enough said
Mike Tyson - He had just snorted a couple of lines
Larry Holmes -If there's anybody in boxing that hates his fellow black man, it's Larry Holmes
Floyd Mayweather JR - That A-side Meth ain't no joke
