Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Larry Merchant ALWAYS gives Mayweather shit. I kinda hate him for that. Antagonising, patronising old cunt. Then goes over to Ortiz and ASKS him if it was an intentional butt. SERIOUSLY?!

But that's HBO, it's obvious they resent having to pay Floyd to fight and be a prick on TV. They even punked him during the Mosley fight :rolleyes:

Anyway, Mayweather was entitled to do whatever the hell he wanted after being nutted like that. If Cortez wanted to take a point away, say something whatever then cool. But CORTEZ was MISSING!

Mayweather throws combos at something pathetic like 60bpm... After that left hook landed, there was a considerable period where Floyd was ALLOWED to throw another punch.

I liked Floyd's glance at Cortez right before he threw the left. That frankensteiner of a headbutt attempt ticked him off, and he saw the perfect spot. He was perfectly within the rules to do so - but still not very classy.

Floyd was on his way to winning the fight. It wasn't the headbutt that made him do that. It was the few punches Ortiz landed in round 4 when Floyd was on the ropes. He didn't like that aggression coming at him.

I think they need to make Merchant PPV because he the most entertaining person in that ring tonight.

Cunt alert. I saw one blatant headbutt attempt that was penalised. Meanwhile I saw one man ruthlessly knock someone out unprotected while the notorious ref looked on like a curious goldfish. In that situation a ref needs to be hands on and prepared for potential rash actions. Mayweather took advantage, but did so in an extremely cuntish fashion. There was no need for it and Cortez should have been diving in after the first punch, he should have at least allowed Ortiz time to recover and not burst straight into a count.

It was incredibly unfair and put a huge dampener on the fight.

Floyd absolutely approached him like he was going to hug/touch gloves. As soon as Ortiz was defenseless and Cortez was looking away, he struck. It was within the rules, but an absolutely childish and pathetic move by a great fighter who should be above those things.

Im talking about the moral high road most are taking on this. Ortiz butted and hit a defenseless Floyd who was looking away with the intent on gaining an advantage and was begging for forgiveness ONLY after getting in trouble. His intentions were obvious and Floyd started fighting when the action resumed. He did it to Gatti and to Mosely because the time was in and the action was on. If you look at Floyd his body language was anything but accepting of an apology. He retaliated plain and simple.

Sad part was Ortiz looked happy that the fight was over, weird stuff

It tells the whole story: the gap between Mayweather/Pacquiaio and Ortiz/Berto is great indeed. Very, very great. And i don't see any reason why hard but slow punching Saul Alvarez could do things much better than poor Ortiz.

What if Floyd had of done a low blow, or a headbutt back in retaliation?.. The ref wouldn't have seen it.. You're there to referee the fight from start to finish.. You stop the fight to seperate fighters and turn to the judges.. Then you return to paying attention to it and start the fight again..

In this case yes, it would have made no difference to the outcome.. But it's incompetence...
