Putting together peices: Gatti's Murder
There is esentially no doubt in my mind this was a murder. Fact is, though... We have very little information. I just wanted to put into a thread the facts and not hearsay. So here is what I have read and heard from various news sources that have recieved their information from the Brizilian police. I'm going to post what was initially reported and what is being said now. As new things are released I will add them. I welcome anyone that has things I've missed or I am incorrect about to post them.
INITIAL REPORTS
Arturo Gatti's body was found face down on his bead by his wife.
There were wounds on the back of Gatti's head.
Gatti's neck had visible signs of trauma
A bloody purse strap was found beside the body.
Gatti's wife was unable to explain how she was in the residence with Gatti's dead body for over 10 hours without realizing he was dead.
Gatti's wife taken into custody and ruled a murder with her being the only suspect.
TODAYS REPORTS
Gatti's death ruled a suicide
Gatti was found hanged and suspended
Ruled a suicide due to Gatti's wife being excluded due to not being able to lift a man Gatti's size.

Some of those things can be explained
The wounds weren't deadly
The purse strap was used in the earlier argument/row/fight
She could have thought he was sleeping during that 10 hour stint
Obviously it could all be bollocks and she did it.
But the most interesting thing is they are now saying he was found hanged. If that's true it changes everything.

Indeed. I wish they'd release more information now that the "investigation" is over.

So many different reports coming out, if these stories don't teach people not to trust the media I don't know what will. I have never heard so many conflicting stories about someone's death :-\

Even then, the strap thing couldn't be explained that way because the marks would easily be erased by the marks of the rope much larger and deeper as a hanging body is a bit harder on the body than a purse strap. Also, they were in a hotel room, so manifestly, she would have ran around a hanging body at some point, it's not like of they did rent a mansion.

It's not the media to blame here!
It's the Brazilian police who had a press conference where they displayed the knife and purse strap and announced his wife as their suspsect. Was the media not supposed to report that? It's the police who have completely about faced and now say he was found hanged? That changes things so drastically. Maybe that's why she said it would be cleared in a few days.
I doubt much has been lost in translation here so wtf accounts for the two different stories?

I was going off the initial report. It's only now they've revealed this hanging lark. The purse strap may have never been round his neck

News in Montreal confirmed that Gatti's family plan on exhuming the body and having another autopsy done. This could get pretty dirty in the coming weeks.

Yes, it's much easier to know what actually happened in an unusual death when you're one guy thousands of miles away reading reports on the internet rather than a team of trained, experienced criminal investigators actually on the scene.

Someone could hang themselves in my lounge and I wouldn't notice for several days never go in there.
Hell someone could hang themselves outside just inside my front door and they would never be found until neighbours stopped by to complain about the smell :p
