Make the weight! You lazy bums! It's only 7 pounds between weight divisions.
The first 5 or 6 times it happened it was like... ok... let's do it so the fight can be made.
But it's becoming ridiculous now.
If you can't make the weight, don't fight at that division. Simple as.

They should just go back to the original eight. I'm sure when Greb fought Tunney outside once when he chubbed out he was nowhere near 175. He showed up at his best weight. They need to close divisions not broaden them. On second thought, the Wba and Wbc have more then double the belts as there are divisions. So lets just have 34 divisions instead of 17 lol.Quote:

It's really not a matter of fighters not being able to make the weight so much anymore. The 1 lb really shines a light on a steaming pile of El heffe and company trying to have their cake and eat it too.
If a fight of this nature and caliber doesn't warrant the Champion to meet his obligations and those in power to treat it as such, just cut the crap and dump that POS in the trash can Bowe style. It's a slap in the face to fans that the rankings (plans) stay the same regardless of outcome and expect us to eat up the next "title fight that actually counts" and forget...oh yeh, THAT guy lost btw. Yes they have been. 1904. Lightweight Joe Gans and welterweight Joe Walcott (Barbados. not Jersey) met at a catchweight of 138. Barney Ross and Jimmy McLarnin was at a catchweight of 143. Henry Armstrong was in a couple of catchweight fights. They always been around. I don't know why muthafuukas all of a sudden wanna complain about it. I don't mind catchweight fights. It helps make some fights that wouldn't normally take place. It's a risk for both fighters. Nobody is forcing fighters to fight at a catchweight. They agree to it. If I remember correctly all 3 Gatti-Ward fights were at a catchweight. Does anybody remember that? No. Because nobody cried about it. It wasn't important. People just remember the fightsQuote:

Nobody is suggesting that catch weights did not happen and I can go cherry pick a few from 1865 through the early part of the 20th century.. Gans also fought Langford with no catchweight and Armstrong challenged Ross and weighed in under lightweight. It was the exception then not the norm. Big difference and nobody pulled that shit to void title fights. Today every other week there is a catchweight. Make the weight obligated by that strap you ride or GTFO of the division.
Ftr I don't mind the odd catch weight fight as long as a title is not involved or dismissed.
Peterson vs Matthysse is not a title fight. So what the fuck are you crying about? Who gives a fuck if Peterson's paper IBF title (that should of been stripped) and Matthysse WBC Interim title (why he even has an interim title I have no fucking idea) is not on the line. Those belts are fucking meaningless anyway. They need to be dismissed. Muthafukkas can't complain about the organizations and than bitch that there titles are not on the line. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I have mine. Catchweights cheapen the significance of weight divisions. Why have them? Do away with them altogether and just have fighters meet at prearranged weights. A professional fighter is perfectly capable of making the weight given sufficient time and preparation. That's what training camps are for. A gap of 7 pounds between divisions isn't a world of difference... it's not like the divisions are 20 pounds apart. They're doing it more now, or at least it's being publicized more now than in the past... and that's all there is to it.
