Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Well it's a nice little weekend of boxing and MMA coming up tomorrow and potentially we could have three very satisfactory suprises.
Three of my most annoying combat fighters are in action and hopefully we can see at least a couple of them get their asses handed to them, and even better a possible career ending defeat.
So follows my quick glance at the three matchup's this weekend that could make me a very happy hobbit indeed.
First up, Hatton vs Lazcano.
Now as a Brit I know I'm shamefully unpatriotic, but nothing would give me greater satisfaction than seeing Ricky get stuck on his fat little behind and knocked out again tomorrow night.
Most importantly this would put the final nail into the coffin of a Mayweather rematch and so force Floyd to fight a real opponent in 09, with the winner of Cotto Margarito being virtually impossible to avoid.
Secondly Hatton's phenomenal appeal to the British public has always completely baffled me. His horrible hit...hold.......hit.......hold fight style bores me. His tedious and predictable one liners bore me, his eulogies about how the fans love him because he's a man of the people and the salt of the earth make me want to :puke: and the acclaimation he gets in interviews and from the media for his being such a jack the lad and working class hero type guy just make me yearn for another trip to the ring corner turnbuckle and the second self knockout in consecutive fights.
Next up we switch to MMA and the loathsome BJ Penn fighting against Sean Sherk. There is little chance that he will lose imo, he's a decent fighter no doubt and will doubtless submit Sherk in the later rounds. But I'm praying that Sherk can get to him and beat him into the ground.
The guy is a turd plain and simple. I really don't want to hear his victory speech 'If you want to know what BJ Penn thinks about this fight go to BJPenn.com'
Instead I want to hear Mike Goldberg announce 'If you want to pledge some money and help us provide support for BJPenn's family goto BJPenn.com.
Finally the ultimate douchebag and delusional prick, Tito Ortiz is in action, and happily in a fight he may very well lose. 'People either love me or hate me' Tito proudly proclaims before every fight. No Tito, they either hate you or are completely disinterested in you. You are a complete tool and I hope your movie career crashes and burns as bad as you did in your two fights with Chuck Liddel. Hopefully Macheda can retire you permantly from the sport of MMA on Saturday and then you can look forward to little cameo roles in terrrible films starring your porn star girlfriend.
You'll probably end up playing a bouncer in a shitty film called Zombie Strippers or something.........ha ha.....oh wait Zombie Strippers! :-X
So there we have it, the three big events this weekend. If any of these come true I'll be over the moon, but fingers crossed let's have a hatrick
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I hate BJ Penn as much as the next guy but you would really want to see Sherk be the one to beat him? Let me say this. Sherk's lay and pray is 1000000 times worse then Hatton's hit and hold. I hope he gets subbed in the first round. When was the last time the UFC had a solid card top to bottom? Not since UFC 75 I would think, I'm tired of this garbage they put out every month. I heard on the commercial that they said whoever wins becomes the greatest lightweight in history and I wanted to throw up.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Well i disagree about Hatton outside the ring he seems just like an average joe down the street, who you could have a chat and laugh with can't understand why you hate him inside the ring. I can understand you hating him inside the ring, im not a big lover of his style either thats why i was rooting for Mayweather, because boxing is about what fighters do inside the ring not outside it regardless if there from same country as you, i tried to explain that to Yotisdan but he called me traitor etc.
Lazcano was good back in his Lightweight days he went distance with prime Castillo, and beat good fighters like Leija, Johnston, Molina, Vasquez, etc. But that was years ago and now he is fighting above his best weight class against the strongest Physical fighter at Jr Welterweight, i just can't see Lazcano winning. Im not saying he won't have his moments but being above his best weight class and being shot fighter equals him taking a pasting and possibly getting stopped for the 2nd time in his career.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I can't say I'm rooting for Hatton to lose but it definitely wouldn't upset me knowing that the result would mean no Floyd fight (probably.)
I actually like B.J. Penn as a fighter. I don't know much about him outside the ring cause I don't follow MMA that closely. Sherk and fighters like him suck. B.J. Penn could be a total piece of shit outside the ring for all I care and I'd still root for him over lay and pray guys.
Tito sucks. I do find it hard to believe that anybody loves him, same reason Sherk sucks.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
.....here's hoping Hatton has a good easy fight with Lazcano.
MMA....I hope the ceiling falls on everyone in attendance and I never have to hear of that horrible God awful "sport" ever again......and if that pisses you off GOOD! I hate MMA, I hate UFC, I hate the people that do it and the fans that watch it, I hate Dana White, I hate Joe Rogan, I think they are about as cool as a bag of AIDS....the people that watch and support that crap just need a good ass kicking and maybe need to find a laser place to get that tribal tat taken off
END RANT

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I doubt Lyle has ever seen an MMA fight, just a few douches in board shorts and tapout shirts and thinks that's a fair representation of the sport. Fair enough he wouldn't be Lyle if he didn't have an opinion on something he knew little about.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Ricky Hatton :thumb: He's alright.
BJ Penn  I don't really care.
Tito Ortiz :homo2:   I hope he get's KTFO.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I just hope Hatton fights more Castillo then Urango. No need to box a guy when you can beat him up. It's in front of his hometown crowd so I doubt we're in for much of a letdown.

Come on buddy, ricky is an ok guy. His only lost to is to a p4p elite. Plus if ricky lose that would totally take away from floyds victory. I don't want to see a hatton floyd rematch so all we can do is not watch it if it does pull through.A lot of fight fans say ooh im not going to watch a crappy set up fight like floyd oscar rematch or floyd hatton rematch but yet they are not true to their words and still watch it.
BJ PENN!? His like one of the best p4p fighters ever in MMA, IMO he could be undefeated if not to his lack of conditionings sometimes. i KNOW he belongs at the lightweight but BJ PENN if condition himself to last all rounds, i think he could take out GSP in a rematch. Plus BJ PENN is one of my favorite MMA, so please buddy don't root against him.
OK now we can agree, its always fun to see Tito get his ass kick. IMO Forrest beat him and now his going against undefeated Macheda. I think Macheda is going to take his head off.A fight I would like to see Tito in is one against my boy Brandon Vera. Vera would totally beat him crosseyed! ;D too bad Brandon wont go down to lightheavyweight where IMO he belongs.

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I wouldn't be surprised if all your 3 wishes come true Bilbo.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Rep soon Bilbo amte. I made a similar thread about Hatton and a possible Floyd rematch.
As for BJ,can't stand him but Sherk droids end of. So who to root for,the big head or the cheat? I'll go for the cheat to humble the big head and test postive ergo no decision.
My boy Machida is going to SCHOOOOOL oRTIZ. I've been talking about Machida for a while,he's the Mayweather of MMA, an MMA fighter who has excellent defence and has beaten good fighters. He'll win easy.
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Also, about Ortiz. I'm a big fan of the Apprentice. I think it's a great show. Ortiz on that show was great. He was funny, wasn't really assertive or aggressive and actually seemed to get along best with Lennox Lewis. He really came off well in that show.

I've seen ENOUGH of MMA to know it's utter crap.......and I didn't have to watch very much of it to tell you that.
The whole idea of taking all the great styles and then mixing them together to make an ultimate or perfect style is just bullshit. It's like if I took a Picasso, Van Gough, Da Vinci, and Rembrant and combined them I would have better work of art....when you mix all those things together you get a girl fight....hair pulling, titty twisters, noogies, indian sunburns, wedgies, and foot stomping....YES FOOT STOMPING! I fucking saw it and I'm never letting you bastards forget about it!!!! Since when do the Three Stooges have a martial art?!?!?!
Yell at me all you want, it's not going to make your tribal tattoo any cooler!!!!
You have Mommy and maybe even Daddy issues and you need to seek psychiatric help...dude seriously I worry about you and if you don't stop liking the MMA then I am going to start throwing rocks at you

I know enough to know MMA is crap....apparently you don't know that much....keep watching maybe some day you will see it.....you'll look at an MMA fight in the future and say "this looks like how two bitches would fight.....holding, hitting while someone is down, KICKING"....when have you seen two grown ass men kicking each other in ANY street fight?!?!?! If someone kicked me I would be inclinded to fucking shoot them where they stand because they are a disgrace to their family, their friends, and their gender
And Tito Ortiz deserves every ass kicking he recieves he's the embodiment of all that is wrong in MMA and UFC and all that crap....it's all marketing and you're a fucking sucker if you buy into it.....it's CRAP!!!!

lyle have you actually been in a real fight? its balls to the wall. This honor thing you speak of does not exist when you fight someone equally as dangerous as you are. Sure you will see in the movies about ooh we should have honorable rules like no kicking while down. but reality is, its the most vicious who survives. Save the honorable front to those who is not your equal, whos someone that is lower then you are and you know for sure you will beat them down anyway. No man is made to win every fight, so a real man gotta do what he gotta do. This talk about honor usually is from a man who knows nothing about getting punch in the face and having to scramble to survive. MMA is totally different from boxing, both have warriors and assholes but both deserves respect. MMA is the closes thing to a real fight. I REMEMBER james toney saying boxing is NOT a sport but honestly since MMA came to light. BOXING is looking more like a sport compared to MMA. I love both though, but BOXING is more one demensional and has a lot more rules then the all welcome fighting style of MMA.
No disrespect to you lyle but MMA is usually appreciated by guys whos been in brawls and understand what is neccessary to win a fight. Boxing is tradition to my country, and I do believe in honor but not all your opponents will. so you must do what you have to to survive. AND what i notice is MMA is not appreciated by those who speaks of honor but yet does not understand MMA is close to a real street fight, therfor what needs to be done must be accepted not dismiss and believe to be shameful and unhonorable.
Plus would you still follow honor when someone got you bleeding and you finally got him on the ground and to keep him there is to beat him down there. It all comes down to what your participating in, if its boxing then sure you don't hit a guy when his down but if its mma you do what you can but in a street fight. I'd kick, punch any man on the ground to keep him there and avoid reversing the outcome.

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Hey I have been in plenty of fights...I haven't ever kicked anyone and I haven't stomped any feet either. I know most people fight without honor but I do, I'm sorry if you take offense to me not hitting you when I knock you on your ass but it's not my style....I'm a peaceful guy, I'll give you the chance to say "I was in the wrong, let's go get a beer and forget about all this"
Fight without honor all you want but I do when I have to ....I'm not a guy who goes out looking for and/or picking fights which is probably why I don't fight people who kick and fight like little bitches.
Sorry to disappoint you....but MMA is appreciated by douchebags.....look around....see the guys with Affliction t-shirts, tribal tattoos, barb wire tattoos, piercings, and bad attitudes.....they didn't get hugged enough by their mama's and now they spend each night trying to attract whores who they don't really want to do anything with and end up fighting people they don't really want to fight.....just go to therapy bro, it's easier and you get to keep all your teeth

hmm...ok lyle you fight with honor and you've been in plenty of fights.
IMO in a street fight there is no time for honor, you gotta be the asshole type (you dislike cause your just showing off) to ask your oppenent to get back up so you don't have to hit him while his down or you just straight foolish. I know for a fact anybody that lets me get back up is a fool cause that would be the only chance he had to beat me.
I think its childish to speak of honor then make a statement of shooting someone who fought without honor in order to save himself. I've been beaten up but yet won a fight, thats how it goes. a real fight both guys get beat up. when one isn't beaten up thats not called a fight, thats just called a beat down. and this fightin with honor you speak of is only seen in movies or spoken of by dreamers or two guys that mutually agreed to fight that way but a real street fight there is no agreement thats why you fight cause theres a disagreement. Anything other then that is a sport even mma is a sport cause there is agreements. So lyle were those fight you been in sports? or streets?
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I'm not the asshole type...I let the guy get up, I let him know that he doesn't have to continue and that we can go get a beer and let bygons be bygons...if they want to continue it's their choice and so they decide how much of a beating they get.
...if someone is going to hit someone while they are down then they need to be "put down" right then and there.
I'm sorry but if you can't beat me in a real fight like a gentleman (with your fists) then you don't deserve to.
I'll fight where ever I need to....I spar but I don't go looking for fights because it's childish and stupid....I'm one of those guys who doesn't fight unless it's the last resort. I am the SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN
-
Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I think the street fights Lyle sees are fought with 8-10 oz. gloves, a referee who can be the only one to stop the fight and under the Unified rules of the ABC. That's the only way his argument makes any sense.

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Why is kicking associated with a lack of honour or a street fight mentality?
It takes tremendous skill to throw a perfect kick, certainly harder than throwing a punch, and why exactly is it dishonourable?
In a real life street fight most people wear shoes so a kick to the face would b dishonourable since a nice steel toe cap or pointy shoe could be seen as a weapon, but in mixed martial arts the person is bare foot so are merely attacking with a limb just like using their arms.
Your analagy to art completely falls flat. Mark my words, if any paintings were discovered from Rembrandt or Da Vinci that were made in an impressionism or post impressionism style the art world would have a collective orgasm, it would be world wide news, we'd be informed over and over and over again just what visionary geniuses these guys were, anticipating an art movement some three hundred years before it developed and I guarantee those paintings would probably be some of the most expensive pieces of art in world history. ;)

I've trained in both and I'm not so sure about that - i think it just depends on your standards for each

I'm talking about world class martial artists like Cung Le, Cro Cop and Anderson Silva. Their kicks are simply sublime, not just straight kicks to the face but they use their legs to sweep, throw and choke out their opponents.
Let's look at some examples of each.
Cro Cop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5efA1...eature=related
Cung Le http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0Qk_...eature=related

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Please try not to stereotype all MMA fighters into one class of ginormous douchebag.
I'm in a gym with a buncha ex-MMA fighters who now focus strictly on the sweet science, and in short order our club has over taken skill wise the long standing boxing club in our city in quality of fighter as a recent rivalry match just proved. A lot of my fellow fighters brought a set of skills and conditioning to the table that when focused on strictly boxing, have made them effective and down right dangerous boxers with extremely fast hand speed. Plus none of them have weird tattoos or mohawks. :p. It's a bit presumptuous.
Now back to Bilbo's thread, sorry for the distract. I hope Hatton gets his ass handed to him. Badly too! :)

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
To be honest, because of how famous and liked he has become in the UK i think a niche has opened up (with a certain Hobbit leader) for individuals to become part of a rebel gang. A rebel gang that hates Ricky Hatton and all things 'nice'.
You know them sorta people who go 'the film was ok, but the book is much better'. Well they are the sorta people who hate Ricky Hatton.

Actually you are quite right. I HATE Christian Mijares with a passion merely because everybody else loves him. I don't like Cotto and I'm not too keen on Manny Pacquiao.
My favourite fighters are Mayorga, Froch, Margarito, Molitor and of course Floyd Mayweather.
I'm rooting for Lazcano to upset Hatton, Mora to wrest the crown away from Vernon Forrest and I'd love it if David Diaz managed to knock out the pacman.
I think I'm just naturally antagonistic. :p

The incident of the weigh-in is not the only time. I have no claims to the high moral road or anything, I just don't think that a sporting champion who is in the public eye should make a habit of saying "fuck" during televised interviews. It is crass and doesn't look good on him at all.

So lyle were those fight you been in sports? or streets?
I wouldnt kick someone in the head when there down in a street fight, imo its just cowerdly, if the guy gets up and wants to keep fighting then just drop him again, yeah u take the risk he might get up and drop u but thats life.

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
You woke up and decided to cause trouble this weekend didn't you??
Unforunately i'm going to be out while the Hatton fight is on.. I was looking forward to it as I just got a high speed internet connection for the first time ever!
Before I was sharing 100kbps with my dad, now i've got 600kbps for myself so I would have gotten to see the fight properly...
I think i'm actually going for Hatton... I'm not sure where he's heading these days, but i'd like to see him get the most out of the end of his career. Hopefully take another couple of good fights in the states..
It was very unfortunate he and his body weren't able to acclamate to becoming a true welterweight as that is by far the most exciting division in boxing at the moment and Hatton really being in the thick of it would have been great to see....
Anyway, good to see ya round Bilbo... It gets a bit :tumbleweed: when your not on posting as much...
Legion dragged in a dead Donkey the other day :beatdeadhorse: to beat whenever he made a witty Bilbo comment but you weren't around to take the bait... I think he gets lonely without you..

You can also add Remy Bonjasky and Jerome LeBanner to that list as well

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
Why are sooooo many people on here so against seeing a rematch with Mayweather Vs Hatton?I think a rematch would be fantastic. It would generate twice as much hype and action from both fighters as before...Dont tell me im wrong on that note.FACT!Only time will tell.

don't think there'd be that much hype because for the first fight they were both unbeaten, and alot of people thought Hatton had the style to beat Mayweather. Also if the fight had been close there'd be more demand for a rematch i.e if it was a split decision/close decision but Mayweather won pretty convincinly. Also there are other fighters than Hatton who deserve a shot at Mayweather and there fans would be pissed off if Mayweather was to fight Hatton again instead of them(Cotto, Margarito)

Dont get me wrong!I would love Mayweather to fight Cotto after all he's the Mandatory challenger! If theres two fighters to stop Mayweather unbeaten record it'll be Hoya or Cotto i reckon.Still i still reckon Hatton rematch fight would gather tonnes of interest weather Mayweather remains Undefeated or not from the Hoya fight in Septemer or the long awaited fight with Cotto.

Re: Bilbo's Three Weekend Wishes.
I don't think the fight should even be sanctioned. It's not only a complete mismatch but Hatton would clearly only be performing for money so technically a form of prostitution.
Hatton offers to humiliate both himself and British boxing by agreeing to let Floyd 'turnbuckle' him again this time in front of 50,000 British fans.
He's no different from the fat girl at school who lets the lads finger her in exhange for money to buy a mint Aero.

yeah true with Hattons fan base I guess his big fights will always gather
big intrest, Im not sure the Americans will buy into it which might cause a problem, still if Mayweather was to go to England to fight him I know I'd be on the way over to watch ;D
