Mayweather Jr. , the Oscar Trainer " Mayweather Sr. commented that the next rival for ODLH should be the winner between Cotto vs Margaro fights , Oscar and the winner between them would be a real great fight , that was the opinion of Mayweather Sr. in an interview in Boxing Coverage updated 24/7 at MaxBoxing.com .....................
Now that Ricky Hatton refused an offer with Oscar to fight in Sept.20 , now he using again the name of Cotto for publicity , he in the end of fight with Forbes , he said that he dont want fight with Cotto because his wife asked him that not fight with any others Puertorican boxers , i think that he now dont give a mind how he would finish his career this year....;D

Oscar is a Light Middlewight.
JHe has to get down to that weight.
He hasn't fought a light middleweight or a man equal his size since Hopkins. Each fight since he's made the opponent come up to facilitate himself.

If ODH fights Cotto at 147 I'll have much respect for him, such a fight would legitimise the winner's right to fight Floyd, who may be back if the price is right and the chorus loud enough. Beating ODH will give Cotto the mainstream exposure that Floyd simply could not ignore, I'm thinking this is what Floyd has in mind all along.

That stuff about Oscar not wanting to fight other Puerto Rican fighters because of his wife is such utter nonsense, and the type of thing that pisses me off about Oscar. Before, it was because of his wife. Over the last few months, we have heard sprinklings from Oscar about possibly fighting Cotto after Floyd. What happened to not fighting Cotto, a Puerto Rican, because of his wife? Pure dodge ball bull.

To fight the big names? Can you really sit there and say honestly that he did not make the Forbes fight happen just to get a win? What is the last quality win he has had over a top ranked opponent in his own weight class? Other then a gift over Felix Sturm it has been 6 years! That was his win over Fernando Vargas.
Lets say he did make it down to 147 and fought Cotto or Margarito and lost. What would be next? Jorge Arce? Nonito Doniare? How about Ivan Calderon? I mean hey they are top names right?

Alfonso Gomez was a man in the same weight division ranked in the top ten by the sanctioning body in which Miguel holds a world title in. Making it a legit match regardless of Gomez skills.
What title did Oscar hold? What was the point of having Forbes a much smaller man who could not even make 154 the division Oscar fights in. That is what the catch weight was for. Not to mention natural physical size.
It is like being the toughest kid in the 12th grade because you beat up all the 7th grade kids over at the middle school.
The whole everyone deserves one is crap. If DLH fought a natural 154lb fighter ranked 200th and had lost his last 10 by KO I would have given him more respect.
The title of that fight card should have been
"Because I need a win!" To top it off he looked like crap and was marked up by one of the softest hitting guys in the sport. In all reality in was nothing but an embarrassment all around for him.

Well first off, EVERY fighter is in it for the money, at least primarily.. You seem to caught up in the idea that to box is for the glory, and not to make a living. It's very pretentious imo. But secondly, if Oscar was in it ONLY for the money, he wouldn't fight at all. That should be painfully obvious, he is nearing billionaire status and has no financial worries in sight, he can rely on his promotional company doing well for a long time. Any payday he makes is insignifigant to his total earnings at this point. Having said that, he, like any world class boxer, is still looking for the highest possible earnings in a fight. If he want's Cotto, then good for him, it takes two to make a fight and it shows he is still hungry if you ask me.

Over the past years, Oscar has raked in money, through manipulating fighters to come up in weight to fight him. Whats the issue with competing as an actual Light Middleweight against Light Middleweights?
At the end of the day Oscar is a fighter I respect for his early ring exploits, but at this stage he's merely motivated by greed.

ODLH was way out of his comfortable weight at Middleweight and Hopkins is naturally much bigger man than ODLH. Secondly how does ODLH wanting to fight Cotto prove ODLH is a money hungry bully ?? majority of people think Cotto would beat ODLH making ODLH the underdog. So doesn't that take bottle from ODLH wanting to take on a dangerous opponent like Cotto at this stage in his career ?? Oscar claimed last year he was the Junior Middleweight Champion of the world. A title that he won having dropped back down from Middleweight. Do you find it strange that Oscar has not faced an opponent that was previously active at 154 since 2003 when he faced Shane Mosely?

Well you did say "Equal his size" i don't really know how i could have took that any other way. ODLH has moved up all the way up from Super Featherweight fighting bigger men than himself, so i think its wrong to call him a bully. I don't think its wrong he hasn't fought a Light Middleweight since 2003, for number of reasons, 1 he has been semi retired. 2 he was fighting Middleweight's so i think we can let him off there can't we ?? 3 there hasn't been a really appealing name at Jr Middleweight.

Barring moving back up to middleweight, to fight Pavlik (ridiculous), challenging a young prime Cotto is about as DANGEROUS a fight as Oscar could take.
It would be a tremendous show of his LOVE for boxing (he certainly doesn't need to fight) to undertake that type of challenge.
Forget the MONEY angle, every fight Oscar has MEGA-money is attached, naturally the bigger the star in the opposite corner the more money involved.

In all fairness to the moving up from Super Featherweight Oscar was 19 at that time. He was not yet fully grown. Yes he fought in a grown mans sport but the body does not stop maturing until about 24 or 25 years old before it sets in at its full size potential. He was also an inch shorter then.
This si why we rarely see fighters stay in the weight class they started in.
Pacquiao started at 110lbs. Less I think but he was also 17 at that time. Now he is 20+lbs heavier. Having fully matured
Since he has filled out girth wise and grown so you can not really count the Super Featherweight time as moving up. Now if he moved up at 27 or so that would be mighty impressive. In truth you would only count his time moving up from about 140lbs.

Your missing the point thats not what i was implying, i was trying to explain how ODLH has moved through the weight classes fighting bigger men than himself, so i just think its wrong to call him a bully.

Like i said to you before who do you expect ODLH to fight at Jr Middleweight ?? of course ODLH is fighting for money but so do all boxers, but there isn't a single fight at Jr Middleweight that appeals to me at all. ODLH has probably only 2 fights left in him so he wants to go out on a high, so he is looking for the biggest names. Which Jr Middleweight division just doesn't have, i can't believe that your having a go at ODLH for wanting to fight the most appealing names.
In all fairness to the moving up from Super Featherweight Oscar was 19 at that time. He was not yet fully grown. Yes he fought in a grown mans sport but the body does not stop maturing until about 24 or 25 years old before it sets in at its full size potential. He was also an inch shorter then.
This si why we rarely see fighters stay in the weight class they started in.
Pacquiao started at 110lbs. Less I think but he was also 17 at that time. Now he is 20+lbs heavier. Having fully matured
Since he has filled out girth wise and grown so you can not really count the Super Featherweight time as moving up. Now if he moved up at 27 or so that would be mighty impressive. In truth you would only count his time moving up from about 140lbs.
Your missing the point thats not what i was implying, i was trying to explain how ODLH has moved through the weight classes fighting bigger men than himself, so i just think its wrong to call him a bully.

Oscar is 5'10 1/2" about an inch taller then when he started out so he would have been 5' 9 1/2" then.

Jorge Paez 5'5", John John Molina 5'7" , Jessie James Leija 5'5" Rafael Ruelas 5'11" (By this time DLH had grown into his frame more and for the fight he was listed at 5' 10") , Julio Cesar Chavez 5' 7 1/2", Pernell Whitiker 5'6", Miguel Angel Gonzalez 5'8", Felix Trinidad and Wilfredo Rivera both 5'11".
Gatti, Mosley all smaller then Oscar. Vargas shorter but stockier. Mayweather and Forbes both smaller. Sturm had him by an inch both weighed the same. Hopkins is the only opponent he ever faced with a visible and genuine size difference though they weighed the same.
Also during Oscars SFW,LW years he held the reach advantage 90% of the time.
Sorry ICB but Oscar did not fight bigger men those years he was always a big man for those division. The tale of the tape does not lie

Ha Ha ha. Danny G put it up yesterday as a joke to see if anyone would use it as a sig so I took him up on the offer lol.

Well I do believe that Hopkins was a lot nearer in size to De la Hoya than Forbes is???
When Oscar embarked on his professional career he was 19, he had a lot of growing up and filling out to do and as he did he moved up, he never moved up and fought someone larger apart from the Sturm and Hopkins fights, which were both actual losses.

As long as a boxer remains in the sport they should apply themselves properly.

Oscar is selecting all smaller fighters. He's called out Jatton, from 140 (granted he weighed 143 for his last fight,) Forbes, beaten at both 140 and 130. Mayorga was coming up from 147, Floyd was coming up from 147, he had plenty of offers from guys at 154.....Spinks, Forrest, Mora....hey Winky's mentioned him for years!!!
Oscar as far as I'm concerned is a bully until he faces a man his own size again. But he probably will not as he's past his prime and I think lacks confidence in his reduced physical strength and speed.

Well first off, EVERY fighter is in it for the money, at least primarily.. You seem to caught up in the idea that to box is for the glory, and not to make a living. It's very pretentious imo. But secondly, if Oscar was in it ONLY for the money, he wouldn't fight at all. That should be painfully obvious, he is nearing billionaire status and has no financial worries in sight, he can rely on his promotional company doing well for a long time. Any payday he makes is insignifigant to his total earnings at this point. Having said that, he, like any world class boxer, is still looking for the highest possible earnings in a fight. If he want's Cotto, then good for him, it takes two to make a fight and it shows he is still hungry if you ask me.

If people dislike ODLH so much and think he has nothing to offer in the ring then wouldn't it be great to see him get in the ring with Cotto and get totally destroyed? Something lots of people in here would be celebrating. All of a sudden, people complain about this fight taking place.
