Why do women tennis players grunt so noisily?

Why are they so noisy? The men are not so bad. Of course, some of them grunt, but generally speaking they are pretty quiet, or else not as noisy as the women, who really seem to grunt with a kind of guttural force that defies all sense of reason. I was watching a game with 2 players, who's names I cannot recall and most definitely will not try to spell, and the noises they were making were just bizarre. I was actually laughing at the television and my wife had to ask me if I was okay. It just seemed so ridiculous and brought back the heady days of Monica Seles and then I saw the article I linked above.
What are your thoughts on women tennis players and their grunting noises?

I've wonder about this too and those short skirts they wear....im not into tennis but i do watch a game between two ladies :lickish: i dont care about whos winning or what the score is im just sitting there hoping to see some panties ;D

I can understand that they are trying to hit the ball fairly hard, but I couldn't imagine myself groaning like that because I've hit a ball with a racquet. It's just insane. It's like kicking a penalty shot and then screaming at the top of your voice because you made contact with the ball. I don't know if that is neccessary really.

it's related to the whole exhale on effort, like some martial artists/boxers snort when they punch but with tennis it's not just when the ball hits string, you follow through the stroke with the racket head, hence the prolonged grunts ;D No need for it really, it's how they've been coached.

There is a big discussion on a tennis forum I go on about this grunting thing. I find it annoying when it gets extreme. Here's a vid of a girl who is up and coming who is just absurd. Almost makes Sharapova, Azarenka and Serena look quiet.
Actually the vid is of Sharapova and De Brito; fukking annoying. That #tch needs a shock collar put around her neck.

Why would they complain? They are getting exactly what they want: men fawning over a sweaty ass woman in a tedious second-rate game. They have movie stars to see, cameras to peddle, all a bunch of cheap whores packaged in a classier way.

The only problem is that Wimbledon is on from about 9pm my time and goes on until the early hours which is the time during which those bastard food sellers go away. And is also the most likely time the strange foreign man will be playing noisy tennis porn.

The womens clothing is designed a certain way. And the uniforms are a bit sexist. Going by how the women dress the men should be playing in their undies with a miniscule kilt for protection. But that is not the game we get.
I was blase in that it really is just the tennis I am interested in. Maybe I'm just weird! :-\

I dont think Martina Navratilova (sp) was the type to be dictated too on what to wear.Pretty sure her game was solid.
For the large part its a media conscious sports world and attractiveness sells and helps attract viewers.Maybe I was shallow but only started watching tennis after seeing Steffi Graff.Had the nose of toucan sam but god those legs:-X.Turns out she had skills as well.I think the grunting is as much a ploy-tactic or "look at me" issue as it can be viewed as a breathing technique.We see it in boxing alot.Frigging bop-bop Peterson brothers,Michael moorer and his 'swish'.Troy Dorsey was a Karate champion turned boxer and barked with every punch.

Me too. If I wanted to see scantily dressed women I wouldn't watch tennis; I'd go to redtube. There aren't any good looking women on tour anyways. The women's side has sucked since Justine Henin left, and the onl thing worth mentioning is their screechin and whore revealing clothes.
And the men are just as bad as they all look like ice cream cones in their fag clothes. Even Nadal got pushed into wearing classic style shirts, pink nonetheless. AndFederer wearing his closet hiding vests and carrying gold man purses:rolleyes:

Women's sports will always be below men so I guess that since NORMAL clothed female tennis players weren't selling a single seat in a tournament maybe they changed their clothing to the mini skirt and I suppose that started to bring a couple of men/women to their tennis matches. Then they started adding the grunts and moans when they hit the ball and people got a little bit more into it or something.....I am just speculating :D .
Maybe if WNBA players wore mini skirts and grunted/moaned when throwing a pass or dribbling the ball, maaaaaybe they would be able to fill an arena at least half way :) .

Fashion has always been a part of tennis; but these days it's really the only thing the WTA have to offer. All of these players switching out the #1 position on a weekly basis, games not evolving; seems the girls only want to get good so they can get clothing deals and be in the spotlight and be pamered; typical of women. The days of Navratilova and Chris Evert are gone; they were more interested in the game instead of the junk outside of it.

Their sponsors dictate what they wear; and Wimbledon makes them wear all white which is so pretentious and annoying; why I always liked Wimby least of all the majors because of the gay ass all white rule. Alot of these girls design their own clothes like the Williams sisters; and they are hood rats skanking up the courts even worse. Bt they are making plenty of $$$ with all the douche bags buying it.

You're right but there are also variations of the skirt. Some skirts seem like shorts. So they get to pick too. They know that skirt will be moving all over the place.

Definately agree. The women in tennis b#tched and moaned about wanting = pay as the men get at he same tournaments; but the fat cows didn't complain about not being able to play 5 sets like the men have to. F#cking b.s. to get = pay for less wok, and the work they display is way under par from the men's. I hate it. The women say they bring something differen than men and sex appeal so they deserve =$$$ becausethey bring fans. They bring bodies, not fans; who fade away. Stay in the kitchen or sucking my weenie biaaatches.

Probably Wimbledon is the only tennis event that forces the women to wear short white skirts. It's pretty pretentious that way.
Women want to wear things like this all the time. They love the attention. A sport with rules like this is perfect for the glory-hunting bloddsucking woman.
It reminds me of women who wear mini-skirts and get upset or give the angry look when people look at their legs. Wearing skimpy clothes for the attention and then getting angry because people look at them? :confused:
