We get bears around here ALL the time. Rarely ever heard of one being shot. Haven't heard of anyone getting bit or eaten by one either. I've seen dozens personally..heck more then dozens...if we consider the city garbage dump near night fall where with flashlights it is tradition to go chase them around. (ya, it's stupid...no need comment on that part)

They even have a sign up, worded something like..."Danger: Don't pester the bears! Or you will be prosecuted for trespassing..."

We trap them and take em out to the woods. If they come back...we take em out a bit further. Kinda simple, actually.

Sorry,I live in a rural area,and Id kind of like to handle it myself if it comes up.
Im not going hunting for them,but if it comes up,I want to be able to handle my own buisness on the spot, rather then ask the rangers if theyd kindly remove my kid from the black bear

Like Im going to pull my gun on anyone,I dont even fire the thing. Like I said,which has been roundly ignored,its double trigger locked and in my storage room. Its only a tool for wildlife managment. Stop trying to paint me like Im an NRA member,because I hate the NRA with a passion. I said before,Im all for reasonable gun control.

Well I responded there are legitimate reasons to own a firearm. Now suddenly Im the NRA member.
Not bloody likely. I own one gun, and for one reason.
The only animals Ive even killed in the last ten years, was two worriesome raccoons,and that was with a bow.
