Remember he was turned during the American Civil War which means the mid 1860's.
The flashback of him killing and eating humans with her and living a life of bloodthirsty depravity was in the 1930's in other words he lived her lifestyle for over 70 years!
Now also let's remember that Bill, prior to being turned was an adult, and a deeply moral and principled man, refusing her offer of sex out of loyalty to his wife etc.
I think its fair to say he's far more principled and moral than most of us, and yet even he was seduced by his maker for 70 years, until he finally begged her to release him.
Jessica meanwhile is a young teen grown up in a frigid fundamentalist home that she despised. She's now at her most curious sexually, has all kinds of desires in her and yet bizarrely in my view has no attachment or interest to Bill at all. Contrast that with the loyalty and feeling of subservience Eric has to Godric, even though Godric is essentially little older than a teenager (this to counter the idea that Jessica wouldn't be attracted to Bill because he's older).
I just think she would hold him in far higher esteem and be insanely jealous of his relationship woth Sookie.
Back to Godric, we disagree here. I don't see him as good, I think as the show goes on he's going to be quite quite evil indeed.........
We still know nothing of how he came to be with Fellowship of the Sun, where he sprung from to save Sookie etc. There's clearly more going on here than meets the eye, maybe things that we won't find out until well into the third season.
I think it's pretty black and white as far as maker/makee goes.. Bill's maker OBVIOUSLY wanted him sexually. She turned him, and then was, as far as vampires go, in control of him. So she probably showed him how he should be acting as she was responsible for him. If you remember when they were fighting, bill said that she made him kill so many people because he felt he should be doing it for her, but that he tried and tried but couldn't love her. So, yes, a need to feel he had to please her, because he is more or less her apprentice, for lack of a better term, but not necessarily a need to love her.
Same with Jessica, where she was turned forcefully and really hated what she became after she was turned and hated bill for it.
If you remember this past episode when Bill came in the room when jessica and hoyt were going at it, hoyt said "those were screams of pleasure", meaning he thought bill came in to protect her.. and THAT is the bond between the maker and the new vamp.. it's obviously up to them to protect the newly turned and they are responsible for the actions. The bond doesn't necessarily have to be a physical attraction, especially if they newly turned vampire was turned without wanting to be one.
as i said, eric on the other hand, felt he was given a gift by Godric, as he basically saved his life and was grateful for it.
i think it's pretty black and white, but that's just me.
i do like your theory about godric and that would be interesting if he actually was bad, but i just caught the first half of the episode on HBO again and i didn't get that underlying evil feeling, but we shall see.
