The whole 2012 hysteria is nothing but a marketing scheme exploiting peoples paranoia in order to make money combined with the ravings of lunatics, attention seekers, and the misguided.

If there's hysteria happening on anything more than a tiny scale, then it's escaped my attention. The movie is pure escapism, I doubt many people are fooled.

I'll have to look up what the Mayan lore says is gonna happen, after all it's their calendar that is ending I believe.

I didn't know we were just talking about the movie. Nonetheless, they're still making money by capitalizing on peoples interest in a manufactured issue.
