What I am saying is that Maidana didn't land a foul on Amir Khan. We cannot deny that Tyson tried to eat Evander Holyfield, but more astonishingly he WAS given a second chance to prove his cannibalistic skills.

In terms of the low blow, how many fighters are given a second chance after commiting an ACTUAL low blow? Quite a lot by my reckoning.

Maidana attempted a foul, missed and was docked without a warning. No second chance. Cortez was again caught in the moment and acted on it. It was weak officiating and it is not as though it is a new thing.

How would Steve Smoger have responded. I bet it would have been quite different. A good warning, a message saying "don't try that again!" and on the fight goes.
That's the point he attempted to and got docked a point, that's his punishment in the ring. Hell in the real world crimes with the word attempt carries severe penalty and you're going to have to pay the price or at least in the US, such as attempted murder.
