What I mean is Johnson did nothing. Against Froch, he did and paid for it. He was taking a beating compared to what anyone else including Bute has done to him since Hopkins. The Green fight maybe gave him a bit more confidence in his ability at this stage than he should have had, especially at this weight and the realisation hit in the Froch fight and he fought alot more conservatively because of it from the get go in this fight. I saw that Bute is too hesitant and he will be a lot more hesitant when he again ups the level of competition. Like they said last night, Johnson is the best fighter he has come across as yet and I think much like Dawson against Pascal, when he faces someone who will fight back and hit and hurt him and cou ter his speed, it will be a shock to the system.

Are you serious? Johnson did nothing as you put it because he was afraid to open up and Bute kept Johnson at his range the whole night. It's ridiculous not to give him credit right now. He completed dominated Glen Johnson. Glen Johnson fought well in his last two fights and Glen had no answer for Bute. There were quite a few posters on this board who picked Johnson to beat Bute. When Bute fights Froch next, which is my bet, you and I are sigbetting my friend.

Glen Johnson stunned Carl Froch a few times with right hands, and atleast won 4 or 5 rounds he never took a beating. Against Lucian Bute he won 0 rounds and was completely dominated, Lucian Bute looked alot better against Glen Johnson.

Lucian Bute probably could of stopped Glen Johnson, but he showed him respect and let the old warrior go the distance. It reminded me Mike McCallum vs RJJ actually.

I actually think Lucian Bute will stop Carl Froch, Lucian Bute hits pretty hard upstairs and downstairs. And Carl Froch is pretty easy to hit with the style he has, and remember he can be hurt and outboxed see the Dirrell, Taylor, fights.

Have to say Bute was very cautious and used his magic wand twirly jab style well to keep Johnson off balance. Consequently i also found it an almost mind numbingly boring experience and think until Bute shares a ring with Froch,Ward,Kessler or someone of a similar level the jury is still out. I can see his ability to counter punch deserting him the first time a quick, fit fighter with a half decent chin rushes him. Johnson was just not fast enough to get inside and rough Bute up a bit but like i said Jury is out. Bute's ring entrance was a bit surreal like something out of the nutcracker suite.

I disagree. I don't think the jury is out anymore. There is no doubt about it that he clearly belongs in the top group. With almost all of Ward/Bute/Froch common opponents, Bute has done better.

I don't believe Kessler is at that top level anymore. He is injured too often and he seems content to finish his days in Denmark fighting the Stieglitz's of the world. Rememebr post-Calzaghe and pre-S6, Kessler stayed in Denmark fighting nobody's.

Dirrell's true status is anybody's guess. He could be completely back to the pre-Abraham level or he might just never have the mental toughness to compete at the top. Either way, it'll be another year at best before we see him in a big fight again.

In my opinion, there's Ward, Bute, and Froch. From a styles perspective, I would like to see Froch and Bute. I believe that's a great fight.

This is Froch's response on twitter to my question about what he thought of the fight: "Bute's safety first approach made it a boring fight but Johnson not trying didn't help. In a word...Shite!"

He's not wrong. Bute, while often a spectacular finisher, is often a slow-paced and methodical fighter.

Should they meet, I'll be cheering for Froch, but I'd expect Bute to give him a boxing lesson and possible stop him.

No way was Bute doing a Jones v McCallum! You could see the frustration on his face that he couldnt get that stoppage!

Also, as for some on here and Duke McKenzie sayong things along the lines of " Always the bridesmaid never the bride" Johnson was a fucking world champion you know!
