no it's a case of Marquez implementing his fight and his strategy throughout the course of 12 rounds and Manny not being able to get into his usual rhythm, IMO it wasn't that close it reminded me of the first Morales/Pacquiao fight, in which just cause the fight was competitive didn't mean that there wasn't a clear winner, and that winner is JMM no questions asked
No he didn't win last night and the main thing that pissed me off was at the end of the fight Pac had his head down knowing he was too gunshy and it lost him the fight.... then prob after getting tipped off before the result that he had got the nod he was riding on shoulders proclaiming victory.![]()
I watched it on my phone so not the best way to view it but I thought Manny won the fight. Of course the crowd booed, they were pro Marquez from the start, the Mexicans were screaming for him the whole fight.
I was disappointed that it was so competitive as I think it bursts the bubble regarding Manny vs Floyd being a great fight, Floyd dominates him imo.
But there was no robbery last night. Manny was busiers. He threw more and outlanded Marquez although at a slightly lower connection rate.
I've not seen many knowledgable experts say they though Marquez won. The entire team on boxingtalk had Manny winning a close fight, as did HBO.
I think the general hatred for Manny, the perception that Marquez had previously been robbed, and the pervading view going in that Marquez was going to get mashed up this time meant that many people over reacted to everything Mrquez did, and felt Manny lost simply because he wasn't getting his way and dominating like all his previous opponents.
A Pachater posted before that "boxing scoring is not an exact science". There are several close rounds that could have gone either way. Some may have given it all to Pac whereas others would have given it all to JMM hence the discrepancy. If those close rounds are equally split between them, then it's a close fight.
You need to watch it again on something bigger than a mobile phone.

really what about Eric Raskin HBO: Boxing: Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez: Fight Recap

You obviously don't rate anyone who disagrees with you much then..BS
do I trust the opinion of those with a vested interest in a particular outcome?? um...er...
Manny won 2 rounds max
Robbery , total robbery
My experience/opinion exactly, except that I watched it on a 50-inch screen in HD. It was a close fight but I really don't get the "robbery" thing here. This was not like Mattyhse's last two fights, for instance.
It does reinforce my longtime view that Floyd totally outclasses Manny if that fight ever gets made.
freddie roach said he thought manny won, but with hesitation, and then followed it up with, it could have gone either way. He basically said that there likely would be a 4th fight. That isn't normally Roach. I think deep down he felt Manny lost the fight.
I thought Pac won.
Scored it 6 rounds to 5 with one even. You can't argue with the aggression, Jim. One guy goes forward the other guy goes back, whaddya do? 6-5 with 1 even Pac on clean aggression.
(yet to see it)
