At the end of the day judges are judges though...do we know who the ref is yet?

Mars I don't know what he's using or not using but the kid smells of hiding something after the Rubio fight. He was damn near a Lt hvy that night and still not buying the post fight non testing bs. He just acts soft to me. In fairness I do see some changes for the better in style but he is still a straight line fighter. I hope Martinez doesn't find the hittability upstairs too tempting and get sucked in, expose his body as Quest for Fire jr. will be ripping it. I think Martinez has the skill to keep him on a leash all night and walk him into punches from bookoo angles, but he better keep sliding and stay mobile.
Jr. hasn't faced anyone like Martinez in his career, Sergio will take Julio's ass into deep water and drown him in the later rounds. Another factor that's an advantage for Martinez is he fights "smart", Jr seems about as dumb as a box of rocks. Sergio also knows how to fight hurt, and/or survive a war, something Julio hasn't experienced yet.

I'm not so sure it will be all that hostile in Vegas, Sergio will have some fans there too, remember Chavez Jr. is a Mexican not an American who hasn't even bothered to try and speak English, his daddy never bothered to learn English either. Just saying, aside from Latinos, I don't believe Jr. has that big of a fan base here in the U.S.

Sergio is a warrior, consummate professional, and used to fighting in adverse environments, so I don't see that being any advantage for Julio.

For what it's worth, I really believe Jr. has been using PEDs during much of his career, how it hasn't been detected so far is a mystery. Nevada has pretty decent drug testing, it wouldn't surprise me if Jr. hasn't been using PEDs leading up to his fight with Martinez and tests positive for something either before or after the fight. Actually PEDs are the only way Jr. has any chance of winning this fight, without them he'll get clowned badly, and even with them he's in trouble.

And yeah Spicoli, I believe Julio Jr. was a crack baby, who got dropped on his head too many times by his daddy.

I disagree, Mars. I think it will be extremely hostile. There's a huge Mexican fan base in Southern California, Texas, and other states with borders with Mexico.... that will more than gladly fill the Thomas & Mack Center for the fight. Not learning English hasn't seemed to be a hindrance for either of the Chavez's. Imagine....... if Chavez fans are willing to overlook the fact he's been caught cheating on his urine tests..... they're sure not to mind at all that he hasn't bothered to learn English.

But hostile environment or not.... Martinez is the consummate pro. He'll give Junior a thorough schooling.... and hopefully will dump the sneering little coddled baby on his pampered ass.
    @TITO,
There's no doubt that the Thomas & Mack Center will have it's share of cheering, jeering mexican and mex-american fans, I just don't think it's going to be a factor in this fight, if anything it will just give Sergio more motivation. I'd like to believe that Sergio will have some fans in Vegas too, certainly those folks who will be betting on him to win.
The bottom line for me is, I just can't see this 26 year old kid, beating an old pro like Martinez, unless he's been using PEDs or Sergio gets royally fucked on the scorecards.

Great thread in a thread you 3.Unlike Bute, Sergio wont fold like a nine dollar lawn chair in a hostile crowd and instead will use it. At least its not in Texas.

Weeks gets to call the frolic on the canvas and I have mixed feelings on him.

The judges are Christodoulou,Byrd and Moretti. That causes me to squirm.

Weeks is a clown, my main concern with the judges is will they be swayed by Jr's rabid Mex fans and with all the bad decisions the last few years, you never really know for sure who's gonna win.

Byrd is the worst judge on the planet and once used the angle excuse as a reason for a fk-up. Moretti is questionable and seems 1 of these guys easily influenced.

I'm unfamiliar with Byrd. Which fights has he judged horribly wrong?

If Geale can win a decision then so can Martinez.

Haha tell that to sergio himself he knocked cintron out in 6, beat him over 12 in the same fight and still only got a draw.

He is a she, Adelaide Byrd. Her husband is ref Robert Byrd. If you Google her name I'm sure you'll see plenty of complaints about her scoring in boxing and mma.

Oh I thought it was the same Byrd who was a boxer turned referee. Apologies I'll google it up right now.

I am hoping that the young champion is given a boxing lesson and a lesson that in order to be a champion you have to earn it and Daddy has been accused in the past of fighting taxi drivers in Tijuana to pad his great record in the early years. Has anyone watched this twenty four seven and anything remotely like that this month? THIS DUDE IS UNDISCIPLINED AND ACTS LIKE THERE IS AN ANGEL ON HIS SHOULDERS. He has zero class and shows up late for training sessions. He even skips them and does a make shift workout at his place keeping his trainer Freddie Roach hanging on a limb wondering if he will show up. Martinez works harder in one day than Junior does in a month of Sundays. If Martinez loses then those angels have the score cards in their possession. Maybe they will lift him(JUNIOR) in the air and have him float like a butterfly. Does this dude really get away with KO wins on legitimate opponents? Who has he fought, somebody tell me please. He is powerful and hits hard but when your chosen opponents stand there like mummies, it is easy to look powerful, Right?

We have 2 good judges for this fight. I'm not sure about Stanley Christodoulou though. He's had some bizarre scorecards. Expect a split or majority decision. Hopefully the correct guy has his hand raised

It also turns out that Sulaiman has said if he were a betting man, he would bet on Junior. He offered to buy a radio show host dinner if Martinez won. The commissioner of the organization running the even shouldn't be making those type of statements before a fight.

As to the split, Junior is getting $3.0 million, Martinez gets $1.4 million.

First his demands that Garcia and Ward give up their WBC belts.... and now this. This just adds to his legacy as the MOST CORRUPT BOXING ORGANIZATION PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT. If you're not Mexican, you already have two strikes in Sulaiman's little black book.

    What an asshole!

I expect Junior to spend most of the fight coming forward and throwing a lot of punches. Unless Martinez can do an absolutely masterful job of countering him all night with clear scoring punches then I think Chavez gets the decision. If Martinez spends the fight going backwards and pot shotting but getting caught with Chavez punches then he's going to lose on the cards. If there's a stoppage I think it'll be Chavez stopping Martinez late on. If Martinez has won over twelve rounds but it's anywhere near close then I think Chavez gets the decision.
