    Retired fighters can say anything!
The only retired fighter that could come back tomorrow and truly compete is lennox lewis (weak divison).
A guy who ducked no one.
Calzaghe didnt say he could beat him now, he said he would have beaten him.

Lewis would be shite now and he ducked Chris Byrd. He didnt want to go anywhere near him and I can remember the crap Lewis used to come out with that it would be a lion against a Byrd. He may well have flattened Byrd but I reckon he was scared of beingmade to look a fool by him.
Eubank was not shot, he was 31 ffs! What was tarver and hopkins 46/7 when dawson fought them?

Eubank had just gone 1-1 with Steve Collins in most peoples minds before he fought Calzaghe, they were both toss ups the Collins fights, The SD loss was in collins home town!!

After Calzaghe he twice got hosed out of the CRUISERWEIGHT title, once by a bad decision and in the second one his opponent needed a KO to win because Eubank was so far infront...It got stopped because of swelling.

Eubank v thompson was voted FOTY, hardly the mark of a shot fighter! He put em both down too, imagine what he would have dne to dawson!!

Eubank was still an A-level fighter when he fought Joe, no doubt about that, Eubank that Calzaghe beat knocks out dawson!

Eubank being shot is a haters myth, calzaghe had only been pro barely 4 years and comprehensively outboxed eubank flooring him twice, underrated win. IF ANYTHING CALZAGHE WAS GREEN!

As for lewis v byrd, lewis did not fight southpaws, he dropped the IBF belt rather than face byrd, that is fact! I dont think he was neccessarily ducking him but it was high risk low reward fight, byrd was not a marquee name and he had a habit of making fighters look bad! I think lewis probably avoided sanders though...and any idiot that thinks that lewis would make any impact if he came back now are clearly delusional fanboys, what is he nearly 50 and about 25 stone!! Wlad would make mincemeat of him...the likes of solis would make him look foolish too! Idiotic statement! None of the 90's fighters could make an impact in wlads era, mcall, tua, holy, tucker, briggs, mercer, golota, tyson, witherspoon, biggs, grant, maskaev, rahman, moorer, etc all got beat by klitschko opponents....

Fuckoff wiv that shit era crap, just because it doesn't fit your particular M.O doesn't mean its shit! The 90's mob couldn't even beat james toney lol...

Calzaghe at his best is significantly better than Ward. Ward just beat a weight drained Dawson, heabbutted his way over Kessler, and was flailing at the end against Bika and Froch. I find it absurd that Ward is rated so highly. He is good at what he does, but is horrible. It is also quite sad that he is trying to tempt someone who has been out for several years. Of course Calzaghe will have none of it.

Billy Goat Jesus will have to go look for another animal to butt.

Thats it, he has to use every dirty trick in the book, headbut, hold, rabbit punch, bring a fighter down in weight. Against Kessler it was a disgrace it was allowed to continue, he should have been warned. If he had been warned for each headbutt he would have been disqualified. Then against Ftoch and Bika, he is so skilled thatthey both finished as strong as they started while Ward ran and held.

One of my favourite bits from a Ward fight is in the 12th against Froch and hes trying like fuck to cling on but Froch has his elbow under Wards chin. Its this point that should highlight to everyone how much Ward relies on holding. All of his work revolves around it. Lurching in with punches to just hold.

I would also like to point out that eubanks career was littered with close decisions:

    -Ray close Draw
    -Malinga SD
    -Benn II Draw
    -Collins 2 SD
    -Watson MD
-Thompson 1 Dodgy UD! Voted FOTY on both sides of the pond.
-Even the Henry wharton fight was close(ish).

Two judges score the thompson fight 114-113, plus eubank floored him! Why do u think there was such a quick rematch?? Eubank was far from shot and that eubank anihilates dawson.

Chris Eubank = Heart of a Lion. His chin was like iron and his will like a piece of steel. He was also incredibly entertaining and possibly the most charismatic boxer since Ali. A true fighter to the core.

Froch was 35 when he fought ward ffs! Calzaghes performance over a 31 yr old eubank was unbelievable for such a green fighter, That calzaghe fuckin ruins ward! Ward has not come close to putting on a performance like that yet! Plus when calzaghe fought bika and kessler he was mid 30's, Ward is mid 20's! Prime calzaghe owns ward.

Philosopher you ‘normally’ talk sense but it is fact that Eubanks fought Joe at short notice because he was due to fight on the same card against a light heavy. The result would have been the same because Joe would not be denied and you are correct Joe was green because he was did not pace himself in that fight and was exhausted at the end.

Lennox would have beaten Byrd and Ruiz who went on and picked up the titles that Lewis dropped. Lennox had unified the titles and he achieved what he needed to and the politics and corruption to keep the titles would have been a lot of effort for very little reward.
