Great! I take it Sergio won, I heard it here first!!!!!!!
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Domination by Sergio Martinez. Master class of boxing. Great for him. He's earned the Cotto or Canelo fights now. Hopefully, he gets them.
Seems Martinez didn't escape unscathed. Knee injuries are no joke, don't know how long it will be before he has his next fight.
Sergio Martinez Breaks Hand, Tears Knee Ligaments - Boxing News
Junior and his team will be the one's pushing/whining for a rematch, saying look I was one punch away from knocking Martinez out in the 12th round, next time i'll start earlier and kick his ass!
I also expect to hear some excuses from Junior for being dominated: I had leg cramps, felt tired, couldn't get off, Sergio wouldn't stand still and fight me, he's a runner/coward, et al.
That Chavez family "pride" (and stupidity) just won't let them give Sergio all the credit he deserves.
BTW, does anybody but me think that Chavez Sr. is back on the sauce & dope.![]()
To Juniors credit he took Sergio's punches well, of course that's to be expected when you're a fucking Crusierweight.![]()
somewhere sulaiman is crying because his godson lost. I'm sure the WBC will strip Sergio if he doesn't fight Chavez Jr. in a rematch.
I hope Gabriel Sarmiento(Cyclops) is able to get his Spain issues corrected. He and Sergio are a more potent trainer/fighter combination than Sergio and pablo sarmiento.
I think this pic says it all:

Right, the ball is in Martinez court now, he should get at least a 50/50 split, and rightfully even more since he's the lineal champion and Junior no longer has a title. I agree that the rematch will likely be made, simply because of the money, the meaningless little KD will make the promotion work, and Junior's idiotic fans will come out to support him again.
I just want to see Sergio calling the shots this time, as for the rematch, I believe the results will be different, Sergio will knock him out next time.
On a very serious note, the fact he needs knee surgery and that from personal experience in the family I know that if you get a surgery on a joint, it will seldom ever be the same and the fact that he is 37 pushing on 38. I hate to admit but I don't want him to keep on boxing. I really respect him as a man and as a champion and its a damn shame he doesn't really have any marquee fights in his resume because he should be remembered.
Boxing is a cruel cruel sport.
I'd like to believe that it wasn't for the knee, Sergio might not have gone down, sure he got hit with some good shots by Chavez, but not any worse then some he got hit with earlier in the fight. In retro it seemed like his balance was more fucked up because of the knee, rather then by the punches.
Sergio should come back well from his injuries, he's a young 37!

martinez couldn't've fought a better fight and chavez couldn't've fought a worse one.
