Are you kidding? There's gotta be 20 bums out there that could've taken Tyson in his prime. Matter of fact... I'm waiting for Lyle to dredge up 20 more "no-names" that could've done the job. All they needed was a decent jab.... right Lyle?
But he's not a Tyson hater. No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o.
Hell... Tyson wasn't even fit to carry Wlad's jockstrap.

Its all Bullshit. When Mike wasnt being distracted by King and Givens he was on his way to matching the regard that Ali has. He was completely dominant and there was not one fighter around that stood any kind of chance with him because he excelled in so many aspects of boxing. He wasnt like Lewis or Holyfield or Wlad where people held their breath for when a big puncher landed on their chin (Holyfield was regarded as chinny back then).
People will not give him credit for the Holmes fight but I believe even that version of Holmes there isnt another fighter ever that could have done what Tyson did to him that night.
Did I say that? Did I come close to saying that? No I didn't so don't try and misrepresent what I've posted.
As for all a guy needing is a "decent jab" to beat Tyson, no that's only a part of it, but I won't bother telling you anything else because you wouldn't read my explination anyway because you're a habitual shit stirrer.....don't care about facts, don't care about reasoning and being rational, you just care about stirring shit up and frankly I'm quite tired of you.
Lighten up. I won't bother dredging up all the posts you've made discrediting Tyson and his career and his accomplishments because frankly it's too much work. I've seen how you get completely defensive about Wlad and any notion that Tyson might even have a chance against him. Then... when backed into a corner, you throw Tyson a bone and concede he might have a chance to beat Wlad if Wlad has one hand tied behind his back, is battling an intestinal bug, and Tyson can use the corner stool.
And spare me your temper tantrum.
I'm hardly the only guy on here you have regular scraps with.
You just don't like differing viewpoints, is all.
I've not discredited anything, I've simply got a different view than "The Mike Tyson that beat Spinks was unstoppable". I've said Tyson is great, it doesn't mean he's unbeatable. I've said there are flaws in the strategy Tyson used and I've shown that it plays out even with other fighters using that style.....but I guess none of that will get through to you.
I'm not the world's biggest Tyson fan, Lyle. You're barking up the wrong tree. I just cringe when I see you write that any number of mediocre heavyweights of the past years could've beaten a prime Mike Tyson. You're so defensive of Wlad... that sometimes that can carry to being dismissive of other great heavyweights of the past.
I'm defensive of Wlad because he too is a great fighter and people are slow to respect fighters that are still fighting. When people try to tell me that the bums from other eras would beat Wladimir #1 It's wrong and #2 it's disrespectful.
When I listed the boxers I thought could beat Tyson I was respectful and I was thoughtful. If people want to consider Ray Mercer a "bum" then fine, he certainly wasn't but whatever. Ray had a very inconsistent career but at one point in time do I think he had the skills & abilities to handle Mike Tyson? YES. Ray Mercer really pushed Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield, he had a chin, he had good fundamentals and he'd be around for 12 rounds vs Tyson who after about 5 rounds would start to show some wear because the pressure fighting style plus the power punching is taxing on stamina.
Some say tyson had douglas down on the canvas for ten seconds anyway...wonder how that would have changed history.
Tyson was out of it by then anyway.
Just think what sort of fighter he would have been if cus was still alive.
